Good Rimfire Gunsmith’s...

I did in fact exactly answer your question. Please read my post again. Pick it up where I said "to answer your original question".

You asked about gun smiths and I gave you 3 smiths I trust without question. You said you did not have any in your area you trusted. I gave you 3 smiths I explicitly trust from them taking my money for the work they have done for me which was impeccable. That includes two full custom rifle builds.

I also explained I did not know what their interest/willingness in a Kimber trigger job was. I told you that you would have to contact them. I never implied that you were intending to shoot the Nationals and could care less about your Voelker 40X. I had no idea from your post about what your intentions were about your Kimber. I gave information you asked for. I think you should appreciate the info on trusted smiths from a person that has experience with them that you were given and asked for, no matter the different types of shooting being done. If you don't think I answered your question......re-read my first post. Your snotty reply has you on my ignore list. Later......much later!

Ha Ha! Holy crap that was a rant! And no you didn’t give me anything, you changed the post after the fact to make it look like you did. Jeez, you must be a joy to live with if you’re that sensitive. Please by all means put me on ignore. You’re more of a drama queen than most high school girls...

I edited the post for grammatical errors. The subject matter didn't change, no telling you that though.

I gave endorsements to 3 smiths, 2 of which were already mentioned, from personal experience. Two of which are friends of mine. You asked for recommendations, and I replied. No drama here sport, just a bit more experience than you have. Hope you get what your looking for, but knowing what I know, I doubt your pipe dream of a 2oz Kimber trigger is going to happen.

Best of luck to you with the way you respond to asking for help.

So you’re a liar as well as a drama queen? I thought you put me on ignore?

Man, the narcissism just shines on through. Keep editing your posts like you just did. People aren’t dumb and see right through it. You won’t last around here. People like you never do. As narcissistic and thin skinned as you are, you’ll just continue having problems with others.

Again, PLEASE put me on ignore. I’d much prefer to not have you anywhere’s near any of my threads.

for grammatical errors my ass! o_O:D

The 2oz. 82G trigger is a sticky in the Kimber forum on RFC.

Yes, unfortunately it’s not something I can do and the person who was doing it turned out to have some personal issues. That’s why I started this thread to try to find out if someone else out there was doing it. Unfortunately, the web being the web, some folks always go negative even when there really isn’t anything to go negative about.

Thanks to all with the constructive positive contributions. :)

Wow, when I first clicked on it, I was like - BINGO! Then I saw the price...

They sure are proud of them aren’t they?

Yes, 300.00 for a trigger does seem like a fair amount of $$ for a Kimber 82G, but if your willing to pay a top Smith to work on your trigger, it may turn out to be a bargain. To get a factory trigger that was designed to function at 2-3 lbs and get it to function properly at 2-3 oz. takes a fair amount of time. Top Smiths are not cheap. There are also no guarantees that it will get to the 2-3 oz your looking for. In one of the above post, someone said it took him 3 hours to rework his trigger to a point that was good for him. In today's world 100.00 per hour for skilled labor in a shop is not unheard of.

Here is a thread on RFC written by the guy that tested this trigger for X-TREME prior to production. He is also a personal friend of mine and owns one of the most accurate Kimber 82G's I know of.

Hope you find it useful.

In my world any competent smith is going to charge at least $50/hr. Plus he is going to need the rifle or at least the action which means shipping costs. To me the $300 drop in would be the no brainer choice.
Posted just after the above.

Thank you so much Sir and yes that was very useful. Much appreciated.

I’ve read many of Kenny's posts over there though the years. He is a great contributor. I bought a set of peep sights from him a few years ago and he sent me a PM explaining all the ins and outs of practically every one ever made. He is a treasure trove of knowledge!

You make a lot of sense also and the more I think about it the more I just might spring for the trigger. I was hoping to find someone who could do it quickly and cheaply like the guy who used to do it on Rimfirecentral.

I don’t usually balk at spending money on good equipment but then I thought about how the trigger is almost half what an 82G is worth it was a turnoff for me. The flip side however is that both of my 82G’s are particularly fine examples. I actually bought them on that site.

The one this trigger would go on is from another well known member over there who has tweaked it and told me about how good it shot, but I honestly didn’t believe it and it sat in my gun safe for a couple of years unused. When I finally got around to trying it I was ticked that I hadn’t been using it sooner. Many look down their noses on these little guns because a lot of them had serious issues. But there are also a good number of them that were pretty damn good. If you do find one that’s a shooter, the biggest weakness IMHO, is the stock. It doesn’t lend itself well to bench shooting. I put a bag rider on mine and it improved it considerably. Probably the single most important change I’ve made to the thing. More important even than the trigger I think.

The gun is worth putting the trigger on as far as it’s ability goes. On the other hand I’m doing fine with it as is. It just would be nice to have a nicer trigger. No, I probably wouldn’t get my money back if I sold it but the simple solution to that probably is to just keep it. :D

No I wouldn’t take it to the nationals. But for long range, benchrest silhouette, it’s holding its own with some rifles worth four or five times what it cost.

Thanks again for your help. It really is appreciated!

I sent Brain voelker my rem 540xr target trigger years ago and for 35 bucks including return shipping he did a great trigger job. A true craftsmen.
