Ok, so , a friend of mine was at ANOTHER BOX STORE. oh hell..this is so bad I just gotta give the name....WALMART!!! My friend, who doesn't hand load, was looking for some 25-06 shells. The "gun expert" behind the counter asked if he could assist her.

Friend.." I am looking for some 25-06 shells, but see that you are out".

Gun expert. "Yes, you are correct , but we do have lots of 30-06 shells......THEY SHOULD WORK JUST FINE" !!!!! :o :o

OMFG!!! If it were me there I would have grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and dragged him to the manager's office!!! >:(

No, and they're not just behind the counter either:

(from another forum recently:)

"...while policing some brass came across an empty Weatherby 7mm magnum case. The case showed multiple indications of EXTREME high pressure. There was an ejector mark on the case head like I've never seen. In front of the belt, you could visually see significant case expansion. There was also a shiny mark about halfway around the case at the front of the belt which indicated imminent failure. The double radius shoulder was fire formed to a traditional shoulder shape.

I asked shooters nearby who was shooting a Weatherby. A guy spoke up he was but had put the rifle away. Showing him the case he said he knew something wasn't right and quit shooting.. Good decision. He was shooting 7mm Weatherby Magnum ammo in a 7mm Remington Magnum rifle. He thought they were one and the same. NOT!! From what I could tell the pressure generated had to be several tens of thousands of psi over normal."

It's hunter sight-in time around here, gun season starts in a few days. This time of year it can be dangerous to be at a shooting range open to the general public.

I didn't even know that you could chamber a weatherby in a rem chamber!! I thought that the WBY had less body taper.
Did he say WHY he was shooting it? Probably asked another rocket scientist salesmen who figured that they were the same!!!

On Hill Street Blues at the end of the roll call and briefing at the beginning of the shift, Sergeant Esterhaus would tell everyone "Let's be careful out there". The team chief on my son's Special Ops Team in Afghanistan would imitate Sergeant Esterhaus with this quote at the end of their mission briefings.

Must be winter already.

Where're you? Where I am the neon on the bank in town 20 minutes ago said 17°F.

AVERAGE low for today's supposed to be 30, record ('86, an awful winter!) is 2.

Winter may not exactly be here yet but the stage is set for another tough one if this keeps up.

Correct me if I am wrong but it actually is fall?

Well, autumn (if you're a romantic) in the northern hemisphere. Winter's got a few weeks left of vacation, needs to be back at work on 12/21 I believe.

Went out & bought me a new cross-country ski kit today, just in case THIS winter's anything like HALF the winter we had LAST time around this side of the sun. I learned how back in the '70's, had some great times out in the snow back then but later years it either snowed then got too cold to bother or the snow was MIA entirely so I quit. Great exercise, almost as much fun as working a Hornady LnL press handle....

Central WI, 6" of snow this week, highs in the low twenties. Lows have been single digits. Next two weeks are more of the same with lows going below zero next week. It Is setting itself up to be a heck of a deer season again!

Bought a 7 rem mag from a guy who threw in a box of 7mm mauser he said would fit correctly.

I took the free box of ammo. :)

"Hey everybody in North and South Dakota....it's fall"......bet ya can hardly wait till winter gets here right?

I am surprised winter is taking so long. Not too many years ago we always had snow before Halloween.

I don't know what you guys are bitchin about, I haven't had to even wear a long sleeve shirt to work yet. well I wore one last week but I had to get out of it before 7: 30 am.
