Golf balls at 100 with 22 long rifle

I set up a golf ball stage in my long range match, using 2" KYL paddle shot at 150yds. each miss you drop in points. I'm going to try 1" at 100yds. this year.

I used to shoot golf balls until I realized I was getting ricochoets on marginal hits. In my situation it proved to be unsafe.

Please heed this warning. Paint balls are much safer, or small balloons, eggs, etc. Golf balls are capable of extreme elastic reflection (that's why you can hit it with a stick and make it go 400 yards), and the bullet can make it back to the shooting line.

I had wondered about this , I will just use small balloons for this match. This is basically a match for new guys wanting to try it. The forecast isn’t good and I’m sure turnout will be low, perfect for new shooters to feel comfortable.

Skip the golf ball and have a go at just the tee...had a little lollipop rack we used to have at. The little dum dums are a hoot out at 100

We have had a cracker shoot before and it’s definitely fun. This match dum dum’s would discourage these guys, remember this is the very first match for 80 percent of these guys.

Try this @ 100 yds for "fun". Set up a board with a dark colored golf ball and a Neco wafer directly next to and about an inch to the rear. Golf ball is the "victim" and the other one is the "target". Now someone else will tell you when to shoot and you have no idea of how much time you have since being told of the situation.

i was shooting 308 cases at 100 yds with 3 out of 5 being hits. Then I started using little plastic army figures, a little more challenging but fun . So much fun the range officer’s got involved. Gone are the good old days of cheap ammo .

I read this thread and yesterday a friend came over for me to mount a scope on a CZ Lux 17 HMR that was new. I pulled out a Ruger American suppressed and my CZ 452 and suggested we make things interesting. Before it was over, we had wacked eggs and skeet at 100 and 200 yards. No, we couldn't clean 10 because the wind was switching south to east and back, but we had a blast. Plus we were using a Tract 2x10 on my CZ and a new Meopta 2x10 on the American. So, considering we were limited to 10X and we were shooting Aguilla Super Extras I think we did OK. Bottom line is I'm hooked and that case of Aguilla isn't going to last nearly as long as I thought it would!

Plus the Tract was adjusted up 62 clicks and came back down to the 100 yard zero perfectly. The Meopta is very nice and is on sale at BH Photo for $299. I see now that the unused 4x20 Sightron STac I have is probably going on the CZ now.

Thanks

Yesterday morning was 18 degrees and switchy winds but we had fun, busted a few balloons and hooked a few newbies too. Fun times with friends.

Add a degree of difficulty years ago we shot golf balls at 300 yards with our fclass rifles but with a twist run a rope across 2 posts then string the golf balls down using eye hook screws . After you shoot the first one the rest jump everywhere makes for alot of cursing

Our favorite little reactive target is the water balloons we get at the dollar store. They are really small but you can fill them as much as you want to get the perfect size. Usually about golf ball size.

We have a large syringe that we use to fill them and control the size.

Put some flour or talc in the balloons. I prefer organic materials. Excess tomatoes, make catsup at 4000fps with the 17FB.

Shot eggs at 100 fun match and then tried 200 yds with it and 7 out of 10 hits was my best. The center fire guys thought I was crazy till saw the results. 22 bench gun with Eley 10X
