Years ago, I used Gold Medallion bore cleaner on my benchrest rifles. When I ran out of it was about the time I quit serious competition, so it wasn't of much concern at that time. Since then I have heard that Remington bought them out, so I bought some Remington Bore Cleaner, as they call it. It is not the same product. The cleaner I'm talking about was brown in color and had an agitator ball bearing in it. It had to be shaken vigorously for each use. The Remington product is white watery stuff with no agitator. Anyone have so knowledge to share on this?

Right after I posted this, I went to Ebay, which I also had not done in a long time and guess what.....there was a squeeze bottle of Gold Medallion! The seller said he bought it from a hardware store that was closing years ago. I wrote and asked if that was the only one. Just now I got a reply. That was it, the last one on earth. Eat your hearts out
Circa late 80s/early 90s I believe Gold Medallion was bought by big green. The yellow bottles of Rem-Clean later just called Bore Cleaner, but still in yellow bottles with a BB inside was brown in color. I found some of this stuff when unpacking some boxes that hadn't seen daylight since 1995. Looking thru the Teslong, it still works very well after a vigorous shaking.
Thinking it may have been renamed yet again to 40X Cleaner or some such thing. Unsure if it's still in yellow bottles or even the same stuff.

Naw, it's in a white bottle, and what's inside has NO resemblance to Gold Medallion.

I have some of the white bottle, white liquid Rem 40X bore cleaner.
A day before shooting, I stand it up side down and periodically shake it up.
Then shake it for a few minutes before using.
I only use it on a patch(s).
Not on a patch wrapped around a brush like the instructions say.
It works pretty well

this has the agitator ball and is a fugly brown works good IMO.
Soooo Remington has used the same container, with the same labelling for two entirely different products. What can I say. Let me see....was it a Chapter 7 or Chapter 11.

Another member took pity on me so I'm good now. Hold on to what you have. IMHO it's real gold!
If you still have some, try this. Clean your barrel after a shooting session, as you usually would. Then remove the bolt and mount a clean white, moderately tight cotton patch on the tip of your ramrod jag, and tun it down the bore to about 1/4" from the end If you have good light or use a flashlight , that 1/4" will tell a story. Chances are, the story will be a nice coppery glow.
Then use the Gold Medallion as directed. Unless you have a seriously neglected bore, the 1/4" test will tell a story that says it's happy now.

We shoot prairie dogs in August on a ranch in Montana every summer (2,000 rounds) and we use the paste to keep our barrels clean. Remington went chapter 11 and lost our contract- Please go to www.us-products.com to find it - the name changed but the products are still very good. We also have a bore paste for dirty barrels--
