gold box vs blue box Lapua Brasss

Which do you think is the best overall- the older gold box or the newer blue box Lapua brass?

Which ever one you have, the other one is always better.

That depends on whether you like gold boxes, or blue boxes. The brass inside is exactly the same, either way.

Why hasn't this mythology died a natural death yet?

The one known difference in the 6br variety was that the necks were thicker in the cardboard box ones, at .0135 which left .001 clearance for the .272 chambered barrels which was the standard for the 'no turn 6br', the newer brass is thinner.

Also there has been a lot of speculation on the quality of the brass, some of it holds some credence.

If there's any instances of quality control concerns, I'd certainly like to know of them. If there is, in fact, any validity to these claims we'll make them right.

My favorite color is blue, but brass resembles gold so I think a coin flip is in order..If it is like Johnny Walker then Blue has more prestige ;D I wonder how a guy could compare brass and come to a decision themselves?

I could careless what color a box and what use to be, I think Lapua needs to expand to belted brass and make some popular BR brass more available!

I was told by a very good shooter that the blow lengths of the blue box stuff is shorter. I was told this by more then one Dasher shooter when they asked me if I noticed it. I told them I don't know because I have a couple thousand gold box cases. Matt

I have problems with the case heads trying to separate with the new brass that I never had with the old stuff in my modified 6BR rounds.

Because nobody takes the time/effort to use the Search function.

If everyone that came to this forum used the search function and found what they needed we would not have any new topics. Later! Frank

Then we wouldn't have much to discuss, and discussion sometimes brings discovery.

Sorry, your argument is argumentum ad absurdum.

Discussion is good.

Asking a question that is asked every 2 months, answered with the same response, by the same authoratative people, is simple tedium, not discussion.

Then what value may I ask does this post of yours provide?

To add fuel to an already tedium filled thread, my post was a simple counter argument to a false argument above.

I would ask you the same.

The thread was an open discussion with theories and facts, if you found it full of tedium then perhaps it would have been best to skip over it as apposed to counter productive commentary.
