Go and No-Go gauge needed?

Darn, I didn't know these things were so hard to find. Does MidwayUSA have a monopoly on PTG go and no-go gauges for the 6mmBR? I am going to be doing a rebarreling of my Savage and I need these gauges. Midway has the Go gauge for $27.50 but the no-go gauges are on backorder.

Do I need both? Where else can I get one? Does Forster make one that fits?

Also, can anyone tell me where I might buy new Lapua brass right now for 6mmBR?

Clymer makes the gauges in that caliber, both Go and No-Go. Brownells shows them at $25 each.
I do not see a listing for Forster in that caliber.

I think it would be better to get both, then make sure it will chamber the Go gauge, while NOT chambering the No-Go. That is the correct way to do it IMO.

Thanks JS223

I am not familiar with Clymer's tools but I looked them up on the Internet and they are a long-time gun tool maker. Have you or anyone else used these gauges?

Guess what I should have asked, are the Clymer gauges going to have any variations with the PTG gauges? McGowen barrels told me they use the Lapua spec reamers from PTG. Should I wait until they are in stock at Midway? Or, will the Clymer gauges work the same for headspacing purposes?

It is recommended that you stay within the same 'system' with headspace gauges, as in if you have a PTG 'Go' then also use a PTG 'No Go', and if you have a Clymer 'Go' then use a Clymer 'No Go'.

Just because the chamber reamer was made by PTG, does not mean you must use a PTG set of headspace gauges.

Simply take your go gauge and apply a single layer of cellophane tape to the end of it and try to chamber it, if it don't GO your chamber is perfect..........
I like my,no firing pin assembly) bolt to drop about 98% of the way down under it's own weight with the go gauge in place....

Called and ordered the no-go today from PTG, the go-gauge will be in Monday or Tuesday and they will ship both of them then.

My barrel is expected in by March 15 so I have time to get all my stuff together in order to bring it all to the gunsmith.

By the way, I'm learning that stuff for the 6mmBR is not easy to find ... like no new Lapua brass in the U.S. at this time, will have to buy some Lapua ammo to start) ... and I can't find a modified case in 6mmBR for my Hornady OAL gauge -- anyone have an extra modified case I could buy?
