gloves?

It was 22F at the range with a wind chill of about negative 400 this morning.

My bare hands hurt almost immediately when I needed to use them.
I shot with winter golf gloves and didn't notice any degradation of shooting.

what do you do -
tough it out bare?
light gloves?
med or heavy gloves with a bare finger?
have sense enough to stay home?

Talking about an extensive practice session or match not a few rounds of sighters or hunting.

When not shooting, hands are in a muff thingy with the powdered hand warmers. When actively using the hands, a thin pair of good fitting gloves. Had a pair of Isotoner thinsulate gloves that a relative gave me that worked perfectly for many years. More recently using a thin pair of leather gloves designed and marketed for shooting. A buddy uses a thin pair of cheap synthetic work gloves that look like they are from the automotive section at Wal-Mart. These all work pretty well.

I wear mechanics gloves and put hand warmers on the back of my hand inside the glove, they are put,on the way and keeps the blood warm going to your fingers

While "Slung In" a Jon-E hand warmer serviced/fired up w/ ColeMan fuel before going prone.
When not in use/between target cycles, it's leaning against my spotting scope tripod or stool leg for easy access.

Bare handed for concise trigger manipulation to -20 deg F.

I shoot in cold weather ( when I have to) any glove that lets you work the bolt properly will do..then cut the trigger finger of the glove OFF, you'll be fine.

I've always had to keep the fingers on my gloves for my fingers to stay warm enough. Cold fingers is a bigger problem for me than a glove that fits well. I've posted my highest scores wearing gloves, and I may start wearing gloves year around to avoid the transition when it gets cold.
