It seems that most comments are attacking the GBA for different reason. I think this a question should be answered. Why would 4 long standing clubs all of a sudden leave their old sanctioning organization?

The members vote does not count !! Just what the E-Board and LRC wants. With the LRC not keeping minutes on there meeting the E-BOARD does what they want and the LRC gets the blame. The shooters are the losers with there money going to the organization works just like with our government.

Well gentleman I have heard some good and bad arguments, and I thank each an everyone that has contributed to this post.Yes know doubt work needs to be done within this new organization to make it be one of the best an equally fair to all shooters that want to be a part of GBA. It is definitely going to be a challenge but I really think this organization is paying very good attention to what most of you are saying and I really think that they want to start off with a really good solid foundation an whole heartedly I think they will prevail please just be patient I think it will be great in the long run.PS Rome was not built in a day good foundation will make it prosperous.
Thanks
Stan

This thread just needs to go away. Nothing positive is going to come from it.

I agree completely. It's easy to complain but much more difficult to come up with solutions. All this complaining over nothing but speculation. Heck, the website isn't even completed yet and the new organization is under full assault from people here who should be focused on growing the sport, not tearing it down. It makes me wonder why they would be so critical? Feeling threatened? Worried about how it may affect your local club? Heaven forbid your club join an organization that is looking out for the Clubs. That would be a terrible thing huh? Without successful clubs, we have nowhere to shoot.

Are all those responding in a negative manner able to tell me, in good conscience, that the other organizations have no faults?

May be time to take a breath, step back and see how this unfolds instead of piling on because it seems to be the trend.

A few things from the website that are being overlooked:

"Hello Fellow Benchrest Shooters,

Shooting should be fun. You should expect a friendly and welcoming crowd at every club and every match. New shooters should not just be welcomed, but should be actively helped by other shooters to make sure they have a good time.

Your Benchrest Association should be focused on earning and maintaining the good will of all shooters. Your Benchrest Association and its members should never badmouth other members or clubs. Your Benchrest Association should represent all clubs equally. And the actions of the Association Board should be transparent to all members."

"With this simple organizational structure, we expect to avoid the problems we have seen with other Benchrest Associations.

Transparency and accountability are powerful tools to make this happen.

Simply put, we are all shooting and competing because we have a passion for this sport. And we will have fun doing it. And we will foster good will toward all of our clubs and members."

If anything I said offends you, it may be time to think about why you are offended.

Dave.

I certainly hope so, us forgotten few in states like Arkansas depend on St Louis, Memphis TN, and now hopefully soon the two new ranges in Tennessee and just look for a good time with good fokes and no rackets...... I personally could care less about the politics of it but I would like to get a chance to shoot in the national shoots in Long Range like we can in short range.

I’ve not experienced any of the negative issues discussed on the last few threads of similar topics in fact I’ve only met outstanding people that want to compete.

I’m more confused than ever on who’s right and who’s wrong, so for now I believe I’ll just walk in shoot the targets assigned and try to improve.
but that’s just me.

I wouldn't shoot THAT format if my life depended on it...I've been here long enough at that point.

Tom
Dead Zero will be shooting a 2 target agg this year. Being new to Ibs it has taken me weeks and weeks of sorting through pages and pages of different opinions about which format is best and I feel this is it for us. So let’s shoot, have some fun and grow this sport. Troy

Looking forward to it!

Mike, you forgot about one club that went under a year or so ago that the LRC put under instead of helping it. Instead of going down and shooting there ,they instead upped the numbers needed to get points. This and many other things but when you vote and it passed by a 2/3 margin is wiped out by the LRC and the E board was the last straw.... jim

All concerned.
I have spent many a day at my field of dreams. I never heard if you build it they will come but many have and most have had a good time. I try hard to see that they do by building nice bathrooms, benches. Covers and such. It appears the Benchrest crowd has come to a bump in the road. Whatever view you have I encourage you to let it go. Go down the path you believe you need to be on and whish the others well. I fear continuing on the present path will only detour new shooters. Their are many ways to get to the end result which is for me to keep shooters shooting. Y'all are always welcome here at our range CA.
As always your kids still in High school will shoot for free if the adult is shooting. I will personally pay your child's Registration fees if needed just come and talk with me.
Once again I wish you small Groups and. High scores.

That's cool, I can tell you it is enjoyable and convenient for both shooters and match officials. On a lot of days it's about as fair as a coin flip, but at least it's within the rules as written.
