Glad I am pretty well stocked up..

At the shops I frequent there are no primers available at any price. I'm fairly well stocked also, enough for about 2 years of my normal practice range sessions of about twice a week, weather permitting plus hunting varmints in the summer and predators in the winter but who knows how long this will last and what may happen after the election.

Did pick up some IMR 4895 last week even though I prefer H4895 but in these times it pays to have some alternates. Fortunately 90% of my shooting is with 223 Rem bolt rifles so I get 280 loads out of one pound of powder. A typical range session for me is 5 rounds at 100 yards and 5 at 200 yards off the shooting sticks to stay sharp and get me out of the house.

$50 a thousand is the cheap going price , I have see them as high as $275 per thousand.... In central Texas right now their buying all the $50 a 1000 we can find and that's not many.... I picked up two 100 packs of SP for $4.99 and those are the only two I have seen since March basically... People are lining up at my local academy in this one horse town two hours before they open... Every week it gets worse... Now shotgun shells are disappearing and I don't meen buckshot its been gone for months... I meen bird shot... Since this started I have been shooting alot of skeet and even low power #8 skeet shells are gone... Thank goodness I can still for now find shotgun reloading stuff...

I read every book C.S Landis wrote, and in one of them he said after the second World War primers were $50/1000, when you could get them. I haven't complained about the cost of primers since I read that years ago.

In some circles that may be considered price gouging.
LDS

In high school we were taught about a concept called supply and demand. Whenever demand outpaces the supply prices will rise. Let the demand drop or the supply catch up and the price will fall. It happens every time just like clockwork.

Not a thread hijack but contrast comparison.
Price of primers is the opposite of value of weld shop equipment in any oil production fabrication area. Giving it away.
Price is what market will tolerate.
Gougers gonna gouge.
I dont like it either.

Ha!$50/1000. Nope. I left and spent zero.
You should have bought all they had.

A local gunshop just bought out an online retailer. I walked in and stumbled on 5k Federal 205's, and 5k CCI 400. Bought them all for $450.

I remember walking out with a case for $125 as well, but those days are long gone.

That's a good snag ,congrats . Every man for himself these days .

I bet you love taking the money from those me me mes, when they order your rifles .
I talk with my customers and actually get to know them a little in most cases. Many times we get on the topic of politics. So far no me, me, mes. I prefer to work with like minded folks. I dont like how the socialist/communist mentality is creeping into all aspects of society and Im not scared to say it.

Only payed $50 for primers once! When prices went back down I bought bought enough that I don't need to worry. Keep your eyes open, just picked up two thousand BR-4 for $30 bucks from a buddy that wasn't using that brand anymore.

Bought a rifle from Alex a few years ago. He answered all my questions. Life happened and until recently have not been able to shoot it as much as I would have liked. Have no buyers remorse and hope to some day purchase more from Alex.
Speaking with Alex was a great experience for me, along with his excellent guidance.

I dont want to side track the OPs thread any worse than I already did ;) My comments really stem from another thread on a different site where guys were actually implying that the gov should step in and regulate prices. Prices are high, it sucks, its not the last time this will happen, but thats a free market. I do have a bunch of Wolf primers, $20 per 1k but you have to pick them up LOL Better jump on that deal, because after the election gas prices may start to rise! :p

I thought about it. But I really didn't need any and I went to look for a deal on primers. This place is usually good. And then there's my empty wallet and I didn't want to max out the card. They had quite a bunch in all flavors.. You know the saying "Sell high, buy low"
