Preacher

6 coats of Auto Clear should be able to stand up to the California sun....
I'll buff it out in the morning, and it will start to shine :D

That is a really outstanding stock!!!!!

If you buff it out aren't you going to blind the competion or yourself unless you have really strong sun glasses.,LOL)

Nice, really nice stock. How did you get the two tone effect and the straight lines, cool effect.

That stock is one of Bill Shehane's 4 inch wide forearmed BIG DAWG Trackers I did up to help out one of our 6br's members... he will use it for long range but I forgot the caliber he'll run...
It is a laminated stock, with a lot of Orange in it, and I really hate to send it away...

Preacher; DO YOU HAVE TIME FOR ADDITIONAL PROJECT ? I was going to sell my MBR stock until today.
E MAIL off to you. JIM

Preacher,

Great work. Can you take a couple more pix when the stock is dry, maybe one shot from the front at 7 o-clock so I can show off the 4" wide forend.

I'm not familiar with that model. Looks like the Shehane MBR tracker, but wider at the front. Here's what Bill has called a "Maxi Tracker" on his website.

Here ya go--
My mistake on the model, I guess they call it the,big dawg) it has a TRACKER stainless steel butt pad on it and I assumed it was a maxi because of the 4 inch front....
Don't forget I'm just a old ground hog hunter ....
It sets beside a ST1000...

That's a Shehane Big Dawg stock in Praire Dog Camo. I picked it out of his web site since I like the orange in it.It has a 4" wide forearm instead of a 3", grip is fatter, in fact everything is just fatter then the St-1000. I had Bill Shehane piller bed it for my Panda action, and he added lead in the butt. It has been channeled to fit a 1.25 straight Kreiger barrel,30" finished, 1:8 twist which hasn't arrived yet). It will be chambered in 6BRDX by Stu Harvey, Sacramento, CA. The gun when finished should weigh approx 25-30 lbs. I went with this stock and barrel dia. so I didn't have to use a barrel block. I'm pretty sure it will shoot those Berger 108's. It will be topped with one of my 45x Comp. Leupold's.

Preacher did a beautiful job on this stock. Considering we've just emailed each other and never met this is amazing. I just had Bill Shehane send it directly to Preacher when he finished the bedding and inletting,I haven't even touched it yet). It shows what kind of great subscribers we have on this forum.

I couldn't be more pleased.

What particular flavor of "Auto Clear" do you use...???? There is quite a variety of makes and make-ups,1-part, 2-part, ...etc).

Thanks,

CW

Lately all I've been using is NAPA's 4-1 mixed Cross/FIRE from Martin Senour paints..

My friend Mikie from California told me to be sure to wear a respirator while I was spraying or my children would be born naked...

That's prolly good advice. I'm a guitar builder and been in the habit of spraying nitrocellulose lacquer, sometimes with resp, sometimes not. Lo and behold, my son was born nekid, indeed. Thanks for the brand name, great looking stock and I'm gonna try it out on my current Shehane Lee Six project.
