German Salazar's 30-06 reloads

I have found a web archive that has cached all the articles written by Germán A. Salazar on his blog The Rifleman’s Journal. Not sure how long it will exist so worth saving each article as a .pdf file for future reference. Such a rich source of information should be preserved by every shooter. Obviously, the content is Germán’s personal property so out of respect for the man you should not reproduce any of it.

2009 https://web.archive.org/web/2015032...al.blogspot.com/2009/08/primers-misfires.html
2010 https://web.archive.org/web/2015031...om/2010/06/reloading-partial-neck-sizing.html
2011 https://web.archive.org/web/2015031.../cartridges-sibling-rivalry-308-vs-30-06.html
2012 https://web.archive.org/web/2015030.../cartridges-accuracy-secrets-of-30-06_10.html

Once viewing an article the menu on the right of the page works to access the other months and content within that year. They do not work for other years.

To save an article as a .pdf file on your hard drive first close the timeline banner at the top of the article (otherwise it repeats itself on each pdf page and blocks out a lot of the content). Then press Ctrl+P to open your printer window. From the drop-down printer selection menu select .pdf file. You only need to do this the first time then it will default to .pdf the next time you pull up the print window. Then click save and the rest is self-explanatory.

Thanks Germán for doing our sport such a great service and may the next chapter of your life bring you much joy. I hope your shoulder is enjoying the rest.

Thank you. I was only able to access the 2012 articles. Any helpful hints for getting to the other years?

Nothing is too heavy if the twist will stablize it, your not over pressure and your consistent! If is shoots good it shoots good. Master the basics of shooting, wind reading and reloading before you do anything else! 4350 and the 30-06 is always a good place to start!

I do not think he said any of the above this is just me be goofy about one of my favorite writers and shooters as I was growing up!

I built a 30-06 and used a PTG ream made to Mr. Salazars specs for the 30-06 chamber/throat, Then I followed Eric Cortina's method of going to touch and then come back 5 thousands at a time. till you find your sweet spot. people are all ways surprised it's a 30-06, Ya know a 30-06 father too a hundred other cartridges but is so inaccurate no one uses it anymore

I have one chambered with the Serengeti reamer as well. Shoots 185 Bergers quite well.

I have a couple of 30-06 target rifles with the German Salazar chambers called the Serengeti spec chambers. They are for 190 + gr. bullets but that chamber works great with 150 gr. bullets also. I shoot 210gr. Sierra MK bullets, nothing better in a 30-06 and had the other rifle set up for the Berger 215 gr. bullets. Both get the job done. I would get the Serengeti chamber and never look back no matter what bullet you shoot. By the way, if you do get this chamber the Berger 155.5 FB bullets are very accurate at 500 yards and are fun to shoot after the heavy weights at longer ranges.
