Gene Davis Magnifier

I'm thinking about buying a Gene Davis magnifier for my Luepold scope. Has anyone had one and if so what did you think? It looks like a great low buck way to boost your scope and still have the option to use it on lower magnification for hunting.

I bought a 3x from Gene, but returned it. Tried it on my Leupold 36x and a Weaver 36x. At 100 and 200 yds., it worked fine; but beyond that distance, the image was a bit blurry. I could see bullet holes better without the booster. Gene is a good guy and will return your money if you are not satisfied.

Hi,

check if you have have angled threads or straight threads on your Leupold !

I constantly struggled with the side focus/parallex on my Mark 4 scope while using the booster. In the end, I could shoot better groups without the booster, so I sold it to someone who might appreciate it. Clarity was always the problem plus it seemed like the parallex was altered, but this could have been me. It is a great concept, but it needs some work to get the ordinary function of the scope to be correct. I would imagine Mr. Davis designed it to work as an option for benchrest scopes at a standard distance rather than a product for general use.

I shot one at the IBS 1000 yard nationals and ordering one more. Now mine was on a NF. I will also say about 6-8 other guys borrowed it for their relays and first night he had orders for about 20 more.

Only one guy did not like it that used it.

Takes refocus and adjust paralax but that is no big issue.

sure works at 1000 for sure with the NF.

I have 2 and generally use them on an 8.5 by 25 scope. Eyes are not what they were and this lets me use greatly reduced size aim points to test loads. maybe because my eyes are not young I can't see the faults others have mentioned. Unless the mirage is bad I would never shoot targets again with out one.

I have two, one for my Leupold 8.5-25's and one for my Night Force 12-42x56's. My personal experience is that they work absolutely perfect for me. My shooting buddy has used them and can not get parallax right no matter how he tries. I think it is up to the personal eyes.
good shooting,
Andy

Tried one with a Weaver T6 and could not quite focus the reticle with it one. Seems three or four more turn would have done it, but ran into the stop. The other scopes I've seen at the range with it on belonged to satisfied folks.
