GEMPRO 250 Scale problems

Gents:

I am having some problems with a recently purchased GEMPRO 250 scale.

I received it as a birthday gift from my wife last June and used it to reload some 308 rounds with it last month. It worked grate and helped on the accuracy of my reloads and speed up the process compared to the old beam. I really like it.

This week I got it out again to do my reloading and found that the scale starts off at 0.000g when I hit TARE and then starts to count down very slowly and will continue with no weight on it.

I have re calibrated it as per the users manual and the MYWIGHT web site video but it still keeps counting down. I have it in an area that has no A.C. wind on it, gave it time to worm up - 30 min, cut it off and back on the next day, blew on the pan to see if any items or grains are stuck under the main pan. It has not been dropped or abused as I am the only one to use it and I have been careful with it so far.

Short of boxing it up and sending it back in what an I missing?

The word on the net is that MYWEIGHT is slow to poor on support. I attempted to send them an e-mail today for help but the MYWEIGHT support system kicks you out when you attempt to contact them. They ask that you not call but to use their e-mail so go figure.

Thank you.

There is an easy, albeit a rather expensive "fix" for the GemPro, it is the "AND FX-120I" scale... I believe it to be the most bang for the buck scale out there.. You can obtain it at "Cambridge Environmental" in Canada..

I have had my GemPro 250 for a couple years and it's been flawless. If it dies, I'll buy another one, they're cheap enough.

I purchased an Ohaus ts120s on Ebay for $100.00 plus $18 for shipping. Instant gratification, no waiting and no drift. Life is good!

I agree with ShootDots on this one. I have been down that GemPro 250 path and finally moved on to the FX-120i which I think really works great and has reduced my powder measuring time and frustrations.

You should send a PM to forum member jlow for help. He seems to be the resident GemPro 250 technical expert and he has had good luck with that scale.

Ditto on the Ohaus TS120S!

I bought two TS120S's with one going to my friend in Australia and one TS200 that I use. The 200 has multi scales but I still use the gram range as its least significant digit is about 0.015 gr equivelent wher on grains it incrementsw in 0.02gr steps. I know it isn't much, but I can!

I paid from $80 to $120 for them

100% correct.

This might solve your problem with the Gempro as it has worked with others. Turn it upside down and shake it gently, it's quite possible that you have a kernal of powder inside.

I have had my myweigh scale for over a year now. I plug mine in and go no waiting for it to warm up, etc. Just plug in and go.

Mine seems more stable when warmed up. I leave it plugged in all the time.

That's about the ONLY way I can ever get mine to work, since it eats batteries faster than a battery-powered 400A arc welder.

From new my Ohus scale would last about 30 min. on fresh batt.
Sent it back. The replacement did the same thing.
Bought a AC adopter problem solved.
Works well stabilizes very quickly.

Sorry for the slow response. So from the description of "count down", I imagine you are not maintaining a zero? I personally have never seen this type of drift in the 4-5 years I have been using mine so no tested fix.

It sounds like you probably have not done a linear calibration with a 50 gram weight? You could of course have a defective unit which is always possible for any machine. Since the unit is so new, I would try the calibration, if it does not fix your problem, try to return it to the place you brought it from first as that is always easier.

I leave mine plugged in all the time and before each time I use it I do calibrate it with both methods. I don't have any issues with my scale. I use a "check weight" I weighed on a very expensive, accurate scale and if I am more than 0.02gr off of the weight I will not start weighing powder. I re calibrate and then weigh.

I'd also like to add my midrange scores (600), which I'm mostly concentrating on, have gone from mid 180's to flirting with High Master scores, in the time I've had this scale.

Well, I hate to admit it but in this case Ben is correct. I used a GP250 for about a year and while it works fine, it really slowed down my loading process. Finicky and sometimes needing to tare it again. Just a pain. The CM1500 was always waiting for me to finish the prior load.

So with the approaching TSRA, Nationals and other events, I was dreading the amount of loading I will be doing in the next few month. I broke down and ordered the FX-120i from Cambridge. It showed up in 4 days.

I used it for the first time a couple weeks ago and the stupid thing is just so friggin' fast and dependable. After about a half dozen rounds I was on a roll and loaded 100 rounds as quickly as or usually faster than, the CM1500 could disgorge, I mean dispense, a load. And I didn't even use the FAST setting on the FX.

It's 4 times the money and it's a genormous and heavy scale compared to the GP-250 but it works so well.

Hey Denys, I am going to send you a pack of Zantac for the "heartburn" you must have for actually agreeing with me!! LOL!!!
