Garmin Xero radar distance

Just a guess but based on the recommended 5"x5" to 15"X15" and maybe a beam width of 30 some odd degrees, about 2 yards out the bullet is IN THE BEAM and giving a Doppler shifted return.

A range of about 20 yards is implied for barns, brick walls, and large targets.

Yup, Instructions sat 5" to 15" and it works great there.

Hold your phone camera about where you will be setting your Garmin.
Adjust camera zoom to about 30 degree image width.
See where the bullet crosses into the 'Beam'.
The bullet will have to travel from the muzzle until it crosses into the beam and then a short distance to return a Doppler signal.

The actual Doppler shift (in hz) depends on the radar frequency.
At about the speed of sound the Doppler shift for 24ghz is about 55kz, for 60ghz it's about 137khz.
The radar signal is removed and several cycles of the Doppler signal are peak detected and measured.
Measuring the frequency of the 55khz or 137khz signal (for speed of sound projectiles) to 0.1% might take several cycles. Distance traveled while the measurement is performed could be less with the higher Doppler frequency.
