Garage Sale gun....

I recently bought a gun at a garage sale. i was very sketchy on this idea, but someone I know well knew the guy and said he was a good guy. I'm curious to the actual age of the gun. How can I find my gun by the serial number on the reciever? is there a website to find guns by serial numbers? it's a G803833 savage model 111 BTH 30-06.

I appreciate any info!!!
:)

I beleive there is a listing of serial number ranges/dates with the manufacture dates either on Savage Shooters or Sharp Shooters Supply web site. Savage Arms also can give you a date of manufacture.

I think you have found a peach of a gun!
If your model number is correct, it has a thumbhole laminate stock, free floating button rifled barrel, an accutrigger and has a new street price of $600-$780.

It will probably shoot 1 MOA or better.

It didn't come with a scope, but is drilled for one. Does yours have a scope?

If you don't mind, what did you pay for it?

You can call Savage tech support and give them the ser #. They can tell you all about it.

or

You can go over to www.savageshooters.com,and put this same post up. There is a member named 'Mad Dog' that can give you the info as well.

Like said already if the model is correct it is a heck of a gun. Not one I woulda thought would be available at a yard sale. Might have to look at those more closely from now on;)

I bought the gun with a lower end leopold 3-9x40, it was $400 all together with hard case as well. I was pretty stoked and now, even more so!

thanks for the input!
