Hello all
Relatively new to the 6mm world, ex pistol shooter. Have a question about a type of barrel twist that's available for pistols but I haven't heard about in the rifle world yet. A company called Schueman makes a range called their Accuracy Enhancing Technology,AET) which is basically a gain twist design whereby the first 20% or so of the rifling is straight,i.e. has no twist) and then gradually gains in twist until the last 20% is the required twist rate.
This leads to higher chamber pressures being possible, less torque on the bullet while at lower velocities until it gets going, then torque applied graudally until full spin at exit.
Works well in pistols, and I can't believe nobody in the rifle world has heard of it before.
So what are the minuses of this system for long guns?
Thanks!
Cheers
Chris
