Gain twist barrels for Palma

Has anyone experimented with gain twist barrels for Palma shooting?

I'm sure that there are some Palma shooters out there that are experimenting with them as we speak. Anyhow, if you give Bartlien a call, Frank Green will fill you in with any info you are seeking. I don't think it matters what the discipline is, the results are speaking for themselves..

We've got 3 of them out there just in the last couple of months. The first guy to get his on his palma gun and has actually shot it at 100 yards and off the bench at a 1000 yards,at Lodi where the Midwest Palma Champs. are held). He said at a 100 yards it was the smallest .30cal. groups he has ever shot. At a 1000 the next day once he played with his seating depth a little bit he had groups running 1" for vertical. He wasn't worried about the horizontal as the conditions where not the best. This was in mid October.

His barrel went from a 12 twist at the breech to 11 at the muzzle.

The other two barrels are for tactical guns and in a couple of different twist rates and should be shot shortly and I hope to have feed back by the first of the new year.

These are beginning to show up more and most have gotten great reviews. There are a couple posts on benchrest.com in the centerfire section which indicate nothing but excellent results.

Hey Guys! Please understand I don't have this magic book that tells me what twist combination is best for a given caliber or bullet etc....

The first guys we made "T" style/gain twist barrels for where the cast lead bullet shooters shooting Schutzenfest type rifles,Hi walls, Ballards etc...) then some rimfire shooters and then guys wanting to try the solid bullets with driving bands etc....The first bench shooter to get them we're Lou Murdica and Tony Boyer and yes they have been working very well. Read some of the post on BRC.

Need more data etc...over time to be able to give better recommendations etc.....
