Gain Twist .308

So I am researching components for a .308 F T/R gun. I am curious if anyone is using a gain twist I for this type of rifle and what type of success you have had with it. I have read varying reviews of gain twist barrels, some say they are more forgiving to the different loads etc. . . Others say there is no appreciable difference. However, most of those are a few years old. Is anyone using these with good success as opposed to a standard barrel, or is it just a gimmick? Thanks for any input in advance.

It's not a gimmick but I think they enjoy wider application in rimfire where the bullets aren't jacketed and velocities are far lower than in center-fire.

Keep the answers coming though! I've been shooting high power (not BR or hunting) only about 10 years, still lots to learn!
