Funny Thing Happened to Me at the Range Yesterday

There were two guys at the range yesterday that I did not recognize. Afterward at breakfast I asked the guys that I usually hang with who they were. I got this deer in the headlights look and my friend said"you don't know who they are?"
They said that is Dave Miller and Curt Crum. They explained that their rifles sell for more than a new pickup truck would cost. I went on the web and have now updated my computer chip.

That's some beautiful wood. Many, many years ago I had the chance to stop at a wood/metal engravers convention in Reno, NV. The name escapes me but, it's still held every year, (I think). There I saw some of the most beautiful gunstocks I had ever seen. If you got the money they are available!

They dont do anything for me. Pretty wood, but it dont cost that much to build a very nice rifle that is just as accurate or more. And pretty wood can still be had at a decent enough price. After a certain price point your just paying for a name. I would rather have my name on the rifle instead of someone elses.

I have a very nice custom 270 wsm from some years back. The wood on it is gorgeous. Not as nice as those guys stocks, but still. . .

My younger boy took it out one day to shoot and just tossed it behind the seat of the truck. Long story short, I'll never buy a gun with a stock that nice again unless I want it as a wall hanger. I love the kid more than the gun so I never really said much other than "couldn't you at least have put it in a case?" I'm gonna will him the thing when I die b/c I cant stand to take it out and see the damaged stock and be reminded.
