Full Length Sizing Inconsistency - Cause?

Never heard of a fluted chamber before, as was mentioned on another forum. Evidently, some HK's have this. Can't imagine what the reason is. It sure does eliminate the reloading option. It makes the brass act like it's much harder because those longitudinal ridges impart strength. 14 of 250 brass had this. Won't be buying any used brass any more.

Biged...just curious...how long does it take one to prep three 5 gallon buckets full of .223 brass? How many cases would you estimate that to be? BTW... thanks for posting that comparison chart .223 Rem. vs. 5.56 NATO. Very informative.

I have been able to small base size some 308 brass fired through a fluted chamber (HK) , lots of spray lube and then just go like H@#L. You definitely don't want to stop part way into the die. After I fired these, I did decide to let them lay. But in a pinch, they will work, like for Zombie ammo if it ever comes to that (:

The reasoning behind the fluted chamber was for ease of ejection / extraction in dirty / combat type situations. (dirty, muddy brass) Same basic theory as the relief lines cut into the bolt carrier on an FN-FAL., just to give the inhibiting substances a place to go.

O wow, just saw the other thread.....duh................and what they said !!!!
