Full length Die

What needs to be done when the die does not size all of the neck? Cannot lower the body anymore it is camming over too hard already.Only necks about 3/4 of the neck.Is this enough?It is a redding with a bushing.

bushing dies don't size the whole neck. only about 2/3 or a little more. If you are forming casses you will need a full length die. hope this helps,treeman

Make sure the bushing is in right side up. One edge has almost a sharp corner, the other side has a bit of a radius, and may not size all of the neck.

The body of the die is set according to the headspace of the chamber.
The bushing is adjusted by the nut in the middle.

Remove the bushing and decapping rod. Set the body to bump the shoulders back the desired amount. .001 is nice. You need not adjust that for that rifle ever again unless you feel the brass getting sticky

Now put the bushing and decapper back in. Screw the top of the die in until it bottoms out then back off a hair. I like to keep the bushing free floating. You may need to adjust the decapping rod for proper primer removal.

Bushing dies usually will not size the entire neck. You should get it closer than 3/4 if you want.
3/4 or a little more is good enough in a factory chamber. You'll never need to worry about donuts that way.
