Full 1lb jug of IMR

I bought a 10lb box of 4895 from Bruno’s. Just curious, does this look like the correct level for a full bottle? For some reason I thought it was usually higher but could totally be mistaken. They are all this level.

Top of powder to top of bottle is 3”

OP, if you're really concerned, then empty one of the bottles into another (clean) container. Put the empty bottle on your scale, and reset the 'Tare' to zero your scale. Put the powder back in, and see if it weighs a pound. Then check all of your other bottles by putting them on the scale one by one. Shouldn't vary more than a fraction (e.g. 1/10) of an ounce, taking into account possible differences in bottle weight.

What Paul said...
I have been weighing a lot of powder recently to give me a reasonable idea of how many shots I have left in that container. I just zero out an easy pour container on a digital kitchen scale and dump it in. Than do the math from oz to grains.
Never had to do that before this stuff got scarce.

These are "one size fits all containers" a bulkier powder would look like it had more in the container. As an example, Hodgdon Trail Boss only has 9 oz in a container that usually holds a pound.

Next time you open a brand new bag of potato chips, check the level inside. It usually looks like some cretin in the warehouse ate about half the bag, then sealed it back up. LOL. The label on the bag always has some statement such as, "some settling may have occurred during shipment". Settling, my a$$. They used a much bigger bag than necessary so as to make it look like more. It's a marketing ploy.

The same half full/half empty appearance is also true for powder jugs. A standard 1 lb jug is good to hold at least 1.3 lb or so; an 8 lb jug can actually hold well over 10 lb when filled to the top. I'm not really sure why they do it that way. It seems less likely to be a marketing ploy with powder, but who knows?

Yea it looks correct and if you didn’t know Hodgdon no longer seals the bottle anymore, just the seal in the cap.
Just opened a pound of 4350 made this Feb. Still has the seal. It came off when I unscrewed the lid. Stuck in the lid along with the other seal.

I just had a radical thought, why not weight contents and see if its 7000 grains net content? And maybe compare a few jugs.

Just bought 10 lbs (10 1lb bottles) of Win WST (first time using this stuff, as I couldn't get a decent amount of Titegroup.) Was thinking I could consolidate the powder into fewer bottles, but on opening one (the same bottle as shown in the OP), was surprised that it was nearly full. So much for space saving, though I guess I could use a couple of 8lb bottles.

Funny comments yes if I had a scale I’d weight it. I was just curios and wanted to do a quick check with you guys.

on the flip side local gun shop had 21 single 1 pounders of Varget come in and I got 12. Finally!!!! $44 a pop

I think you'll find that the bags are spacious so that they don't crush when stacked or boxed.
