Can't agree with you on this XTR I have shot a 223 & 90gr for quite a few yearsXTR said:ARIZONA_F_CLASS said:boltman223 said:ARIZONA_F_CLASS said:In moderate wind the .223 at 1000 yards will lose every time. I have both and really like the accuracy of the .223 but at a grand. it will lose, especially against a heavy bullet.
My .02
Just wondering, are you referring to the 90's or 80's?
90's & 80's don't have a chance against .308 heavy bullets Last year at the Worlds there was a guy from Canada shooting a .223, I think the only one. And he said after the match that he was switching to a .308 ;D
That was Bruce. I don't know about him switching calibers, but he came to Raton twice with a .223. F class can be masochistic enough, and the wind at Raton takes it to a whole 'nuther level, doing it with a 223 is just being a glutton.
Talk to the guys who have shot the 223 and the 308 at 1000. I know what he programs say about the wind drift, but all of them that I have talked to say that something is missing in the calcs because the 223 gets more drift than it's calculated to.
