FTR Competition gun - Do they age well? - Looking at buying a 6yr old rifle.

I have a line on a RimRock BRM action in a McMillan XIT Stock. Its 6 years old and a decent price. I need some advice on whether this is a good next step.

Very nice, so long as the barrel is not too worn - but according to the price, can you afford to put a new barrel on? Then it's a no brainer. Good choice of parts for an FTR gun.

check the bolt lugs for wear -some folks don't believe in lubrication...
Otherwise, should be good to go.

My VFS Rifle, which I have been known to occasionally do pretty well with, is based on a 1998 R/L Farley and a 15 year old Robertson Stock.

If taken care of, a well designed and built action can just about last indefinitely. Of course, you do need to pay attention to such things as galled locking lugs or other signs of abuse.

Since Borden has been known for decades in the production of some of the finest products in shooting, I believe you can be assured that there is nothing “antiquated” about this Rifle.
