Front Rest

I am trying to get my feet wet getting into 600yd and 1000yd benchrest. I am looking for some opinions on front rests. I have been looking at Farley and SEB. Any opinions and help would be appreciated. Also if you have something you are thinking about getting rid of let me know please.

I've owned a lot of rests. My current rest is the new Sinclair Competition front rest with an Edgewood Codura bag. I use a Protektor DR rear bag. I like this combination better than anything I've owned before.

Brent,

Take a look at Bob Pastor's rests. He makes both heavy rests for 600/1000 BR and F-Class rests.. He shoots both discipines and his customer service is second to none!!! I have his heavy BR rest and my F-Class rest has been pimped by him...

Take a look: http://www.viperbench-rest.com/

Bob is a Top Shelf Shooter and a great guy!!

FWIW: He just finished a front rest for a guy you shoots a 20MM rig from the bench. The rest weighs 190 lbs, the base plate is 120 lbs by itself..

Got any questions, PM me or just give Bob a holler!!

I just got the new SEB NEO, what an awesome piece of equipment, if your looking for a coaxial rest I highly recommend the NEO. The waiting list is a bit long but worth it. If you look on Youtube there are video's about it. If your close to Central PA and want to play with one first hand before dropping that amount of coin let me know and we can meet at the range.

I have a JJ rest and am very happy with the smoothness and stability of this rest. Price is the only disappointment.

The SEB and Farley are pretty similar. I went with the Farley as it was quicker to get and I know I can get parts if needed.

Has anyone compared Farleys with Sebs as far as smoothness, free play and fine adjustment with a 22lb gun on top?

I have a Farley compact, and a SEB NEO, and I find them to equally smooth and adjustable with my F-Open rigs on them. Both are very nice, really.

I have a toggle rest from this guy.
I have never found it wanting.

Thanks for all the input it is much appreciated. Hopefully later this week I will have some time to look over all the rests mentioned and get something coming.

I have with a 17lb gun and they are both nice like Mark mentioned but I think the SEB is a bit smoother and has more overall adjustment. Workmanship and appearance I believe both belong to SEB. When your talking that kind of money the SEB really isn't that much more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the Farley it is a super high quality rest and whether you choose that or a SEB is going to be more personal preference than anything. I chose the SEB for what I mentioned above.

I also would like to highly recommend Bob Pastor as the guy you want to talk to about a rest. Bob is a dedicated man and the results of his dedication are evident in everything he does, His rest are simply a work of art. Follow the link provided in that early post to Bob and his Viper rest's. You will never be sorry.

Bob built me a rest a few months ago, and the way Bob and I met is another whole and long story, I think the world of the man and his work. when ever anyone feels that way about you you are doing something right. here's a few shots of my "Viper Rest"

Bling City! My shooting buddies would never stop giving me grief if I showed up with that.

Go with Bob Pastor, he's as good as they come and will customize to your needs.

Give him a call, and oh ya, ask him about his man eating oven...LOL

Tell him Eddie Fosnaugh sent you and maybe he'll give you a discount.....or he may charge extra! ???

Man those Vipers look nice. I did however get a SEB from Ernie B. I really wanted a joystick control and Ernie was great to deal with. Thanks for all the input it was a tough decision but I hope it was the right one for me.

Kilshot, Bob actually did all of the "Bling" as you put it on his own, I thought I was just getting a rest. Now with that said I don't really give a flying ----- how much grief I get I've got thick skin, and not only that but the coolest rest I ever did see. 8)
