Freeware target analysis program

I have just posted a link to the file and to the video on AR15.com and even in one of Johnny's Reloading Bench videos on YouTube.

Thank you. I've got a couple things to try out to make getting this to try it less painful including attaching it to a reply here and someone suggested GitHub which I will need to re-evaluate after the suggestion.

Thanks again.

Hmm, well, I would blow off any "downloader" crap. I never accept that stuff and don't blame you for not messing with it. Lemme try this...

Seemed to download just fine from the attachment. You are still free to use the link I provided to my OneDrive if you care to share it other places that won't allow attachments.

I have it, it works fine and thank you. BUT, how do I increase the 'hole' size? I place the shots and the red circle is almost a dot.

Sounds like you need to click on the Action -- Select reference line or change your caliber in the top right box.

You might be a little confused watching the video because you don't see the cross hair that he is referring too, but it is there when using the program.

Sorry for the delay; I hit a "10 posts in 48 hours" limit. :-/

Yes, thank you for pointing that out. There are two problems with the video: 1) my screen capture software doesn't capture the menu items displayed and 2) the cursor, which I custom made, doesn't show up properly in the video (but works great in the program). I should have noted that in the text on the video.

Thank you very much. I will still use that. As you point out, it's useful for other people on other sites.

I have an update which corrects the dimension line not drawing correctly if it's originally drawn other than flat left to right.

I've not tried to do software distribution like this before (when I did this for-profit, my customers had remote desktop software installed and I just remoted in and updated their systems). That said, here's an update which should fix that dim line boo boo.

There should be a few more updates in short order; I found a bug with disappearing bullet hole markings if I zoom in too far, and I'm working on the printing of the targets with the data work ups.

I did get your PM about that issue. I am sure it to keep the bots from blowing up the website.

I'll get that new file uploaded to my OneDrive too.

I seem to be having the same issue as described on the AR15.com thread, I am not sure if I can rely on the reference line. It looks fine if it is traced horizontally but the starting and ending points change location if traced at an angle.

Jacques

I found the problem and believe I have it corrected. The problem was in the routine which drew the blue line on the screen. The line length was calculated correctly, it just wasn't then drawn correctly if the line wasn't horizontal. There's a "new" version I attached to the thread which has the fix. Please (everyone) lemme know if that doesn't work.

Thank you.

what do I need to do to 'save' the picture. My options are greyed out. Plus I mentioned earlier that my 'holes' were very small no matter what caliber I put down. Other than that it's useful and easy to use. I like it.

I am using Windows 10 with Chrome and Norton Security. They (it) did not like your .deploy software and your setup.exe program and removed them from the directory. Hope this helps.

I have the same issue with very small markers. When it does that and the target processes the group is all out of whack. It's really nice when it works though. Thanks for letting us play with it.

Played around with it some more today. There is an issue with the size of the picture being used. Previous targets I used and even posted the pictures of on the first page were scanned. Today I tried to use a picture that I took with my phone. Started out with really tiny circles that others have had. I kept resizing the picture smaller and smaller and the circles kept getting bigger and bigger.

Thank you very much. I would like to leave it there because: 1) it provides a consistent place for users to find it, 2) it allows others (like the AR15 forum) to get it without having to register here, and 3) it might work well as a single-source of the software to reduce the likelihood that previous, out-of-date, versions are floating around. I'll attach the latest version here.

I did my initial testing with, primarily, one image which was a mistake to be sure. TripletDad sent me an image which was very helpful in making improvements to the program as his image wasn't done on a flatbed scanner (like my images were).

The current version fixes: bullet holes displayed too small, dim line drifting around when zooming, bullet holes drifting around when zooming, Extreme Spread holes not centered on image holes, and some other zoom troubles. This is a much better functioning version than the first one. I only wish I'd had an image like the one TripletDad sent me to start from, I could have saved y'all some headaches. Sorry.

This was a straight up bug in the software (read: I screwed up). I have it corrected now. It was simply a matter of using an incorrect variable in a calculation. Version 4.0.0.2 corrects this and should now be where 4.0.0.0 should have been. I've posted the ZIP on this thread in a reply to a post by #40Fan.

Please let me know if you have any other problems and THANK YOU to all who have tried it and posted what works and, very importantly, what *doesn't* work.
