I just finished the last of my finals today. Now that the fourteen credit hour semester is over with I can get back into starting to reload. Since I have limited space to reload for the time being are there any good portable reloading bench plans out there? Thank you.

I used a Black & Decker Workmate with a top added to it for a lot of years. The benefit of making one like that is that you never have to get rid of it. If you build a bigger permanent bench, you can use this to take to the range to reload. I never used it that way, however, because I do not reload at the range.

+1, except I'm just too lazy to bring along the extra stuff. Got a rigid work box to hold the various knick-knacks that you'll accumulate. Careful, eventually it'll accumulate into a full 2 car garage minus the two cars...

I used to use a simple small 1/2" plywood table with a RCBS partner press (which is hugely underrated - great, small, light press). It's a myth that you need something heavy and stable. You really just need somewhere to put your stuff. Mine was a cheapo folding table I found at home depot with a 2'x2' piece of plywood screwed to the top. Worked great.

In order to make a "modular" system because of limited workbench space, I mounted several pieces of my reloading equipment (press, various trimmers, primer tool, etc) to hardwood cutting boards that are clamped to the reloading bench during use. These can be switched out easily depending on which tool I may need to use at the moment and only requires a short section of benchtop/desktop:

I am using Catskill 1 1/4" thick cutting boards. As cutting boards go, they are not too expensive. There are likely other less expensive hardwood options out there. I chose the hardwood cutting boards rather than pine, due to concerns about stripping the lag screw holes. However, sections of 2" x 12" would probably work fine if you used bolts and countersunk the heads on the bottom. The press is in use on the board at left. The board on the right has a case trimmer on one side and a priming tool on the other, and the clamps are shown laying on top. An extra cutting board not currently in use is shown in the back.

Very nice set up. My apologies for not responding quickly. I have been busy working to pay for next semester and looking for either another or new job.

Update time. I just finished paying for my classes this semester. After hoarding two or three paychecks to pay for the books I need. I will try to get the bench or materials for the bench.

For more than a few years in my younger [much younger] days I used c-clamps and a kitchen table..

A good sturdy nightstand or end table will work. Find one with drawers or cabinet type doors for storage. They don't take up much room, ask me how I know. Look at yard sale, thrift stores, or you may have an extra one like I had.

If you have the money, Home Depot has a neat folding workbench that you can order for $160. 48" with a 2 inch top. Pegboard back, too.
