FREE- Old guy ruminations

Just looking around site, i just bought my first thing here this week, happy with deal so far. now the reason for this post. I've decided that I can do something about people who have over five deals and still have not helped support this wonderful site. I will not purchase from them without letting them have some free first amendment thoughts on capitalism and my interpretation of how it works. After all it is my money.Sincerely, John Ruchti P.S. Just thinking, might be wrong, maybe right.

Just because a member is not denoted as "site contributor" does not mean that that individual has not sent in a contribution. In order to be recognized as one, a donor must follow the directions on the "thanks for the donation" card sent once the donations are received. Following the instruction on the card, one must then email their forum name to the website. Well, "STUFF" happens.....members might forget to e-mail, some members may be reluctant to be identified as a contributor (for whatever reason), your email gets lost in cyberspace,or for whatever reason your donation fails to get recognized.
While the OP's intentions are honorable, it is not without unintended consequences......some generous (in terms of posting time sharing their knowledge, and unidentified contributions) members will be penalized.

This is the thread you can post in to resolve an issue where you have contributed but are not recognized as such. If someone does not wish to post in this thread, I would think a PM to one of the forum moderators would also resolve the issue.

I also believe the members that contribute by sharing their knowledge are of great value to this site and should not be judged by money contributions alone. It is easy enough to click on a persons profile and take a look at their posts. You can quickly see that they help other members (and the world) by sharing their knowledge. The good guys stand out and are know my most.

Hi, Here's the deal, after "I will take it", if you match my $10.00 contribution to this site that made it all possible than we have a deal. This is going to be my way of saying thanks to those who make this site work, check out the cost of a newspaper add, or the price of a magazine, book, etc. lately! I received a PM about lamasting people, anonymity, that is not my intention, it is only to express my thoughts on helping to make sure that in the future other people will be able to find this site like I have, because it is still here. I tried to explain to the PM that expressing myself in print is difficult for me and gave them my Ph. #. This technology is good stuff, but it is to easy for people to hide and shoot their mouths off. Sincerely, John Ruchti P.S. My world is very black & white, I call'um as I see'um, and I might be wrong or maybe right.

Knowledge is indeed priceless. Knowing the answer is surely desirable, however KNOWING WHERE to get the answer is the key.
Sharing the knowledge is a generous gift for sure.
Unfortunately that gift of knowledge sharing is not the way sites like this continue to operate. Money is what keeps it going. This is solvable without penalizing everyone, by the classifieds which are free. If you posted an ad and sold your product some percentage should be sent to the site. The Forum Boss had previously posted the number of contributors during the last quarter. It is so shockingly low that I marvel that the site continues.
For those that share years of knowledge with all, and never placed an ad yet are site contributors....well that is remarkable. Take a look at other sites or advertising costs. If you made a sale something should be returned to the site for the captive audience it freely provides.
In regards to contributing and not being shown as one I have found a PM to the BOSS solves the error.

After doing a check on ten of the most generous members for sharing their time and knowledge, it appears that their generosity also extends to the financial side, to the man.

Not to mention ones like myself whom come thru this site to purchase items on amazon.com which makes a contribution to this site thru my purchase

We're trying to get caught up with all our PayPal contributors from January. There are delays when folks pay by check because most folks don't list their true names when registering. If someone did not list an actual name when registering, and if we don't have the exact email address with which somebody registered, it is very difficult to connect the donating party with a Forum account.

My advice is, if you send off a check to donate, send an email right away saying you made a donation (please provide check # and amount). Include in the email your Forum log-in name and the email address with which you registered. With that info we can get you "acknowledged" much faster! Send email to: mailbox@6mmBR.com.

Hopefully we can eventually figure out a way that donations can be directly processed within the Forum (no PayPal). But it looks like that would require the entire forum to be ported to a different software system which would them have to be optimized and customized -- a big task.
