Found a Fawn

Found this Fawn this morning right behind my shop.

past 3:30 and still here.... the fawn stayed put until dark when I saw the doe sneaking in. I left them alone so didn’t see her collecting it.

Momma is likely close. They often leave the fawns near homes and buildings where predators are less likely to be, such as coyotes.
Absolutely. Even with me shooting on my range, it isn't unusual for a doe to occasionally leave a fawn hidden under a thick patch of pines about 70 yards west of my house. Obviously mama isn't hanging around while I shoot, but they sometimes leave them there of an evening. I keep my dogs away from there during early spring.

Golfing a few years ago, was on #9 in town. 10 yards from the tee box in a planter of hostas was a fawn. 10 yards from the fawn was a house.

Also, like the gent above, was pd hunting in Wyoming and saw a newborn pronghorn. Man, are they small...

You can see I was less than 1 revolution of the tire from crushing this fawn. Thank goodness I saw it and slammed on brakes while bushhogging.

Lucky, indeed. A lot of them find their way through the discbine this time of year. Very easy to not see them lying in the hay when you're smoking along at 10-12 mph.

Last year while prairie dog hunting in MT, I saw a doe in the bowl behind me. I would turn to check on her from time to time. Looked around and saw here licking her fawn that had just been born. Here it is getting it's first meal. Within 10 minutes, they both moved on.

Had one curled up next to the curb in front of my house when we came home a couple of days ago. I finally got spooked by a diesel truck and went across the street into the neighbors lawn and layed down again a few feet from the street. Two dump trucks came by shortly and it jumped up and ran closer to their house and layed down again. Both times it ran off it looked as if it went as far as it was able then sort of fell down and went motionless. Later it was gone. Momma apparently retrieved it .
