Found a Fawn

Number of years ago, my cousin came upon one while mowing one morning. Mowed around it. At dusk that evening momma came across the field to collect it.

Yep, i have got a few mowing hay...sad
Sometimes they run right into danger... I don’t know how so many live through adolescents but they do. Was hunting a few years ago and 2 juveniles hanging around when 2 very healthy coyotes charged in a flew by me full speed after them. Everyone left in a hurry and I was sure they were doomed, back the next day to my surprise. Those long legs will run through brush the coyotes can’t.

I was hunting one year and a herd of deer ran right past my stand. Seeing a herd in thick Georgia woods was super weird. 20 mins later saw 3 coyotes trotting down the same trail after them. I don’t think the coyotes were ever going to catch them. Futile attempt, hopefully.

Yep. I dont think they can see well at first??

Absolutely. Even with me shooting on my range, it isn't unusual for a doe to occasionally leave a fawn hidden under a thick patch of pines about 70 yards west of my house. Obviously mama isn't hanging around while I shoot, but they sometimes leave them there of an evening. I keep my dogs away from there during early spring.
This old yard doe will walk right in front of me when I am shooting, you have to watch her. I think she believes she owns the placeIMG_20200627_170632821.jpg

We have a lot of deer at our gun club. They do act like they own the place. No hunting on the club grounds so they know they are safe.
