Forum Problem

ONLY the forum on the Accurate Shooter website showed up as "not secure" on Chrome and would only display half the page. I attributed that to Chrome, and per my wife's suggestion switched to MS Edge on my laptop and my phone and the problem is gone, BUT the forum is still displayed as "not secure". No idea, never that way before, but at least it works now on Edge. My wife does have a dislike for Chrome btw, but I'm not sure why since she never explains it. I'm becoming less and less a fan of Google myself.

As we have explained. The Forum is NOT HTTPS .

This means, with some browsers and browser settings, it will appear as "not secure" or with a line through a lock.

But guys, it has been that way since the beginning. This is NOT something new. What may be new is a setting on your browser.

The reason for NOT HTTPs is the nature of a Forum. There are hundreds of thousands of third party photos and millions of links. Switching to HTTPS would instantly kill the majority of those links and any non-https-hosted photos would disappear.

Re "secure" -- We do not handle credit cards or capture any financial data. ALL donations and upgrades are handled through PayPal, through its secure, full data-encryption interface.

So far so good this morning things are working normal. I didn't make any changes I just waited it out to start working on its own.

OK guys, for the first time, after opening and closing Chrome, I was able to see an error some guys are reporting. About 1/3 of way down page it went blank, but if you scrolled all the way down, then the page would fill. I cannot get it to repeat regularly.

Our best guess is that this is a software fault with Chrome. There are many theories, but it appears Chrome is trying to filter content or run tracking code.

For the time being, until we can resolve the situation, I recommend using a browser other than Chrome.

If you must use Chrome, there may be a work-around.

On the top of the page, to the LEFT of the URL, you may see an "i" in a circle and a button labeled "not secure".

Click on that button and then click on the Gear icon labeled "Site Settings".

There will be a list of permissions in a column mid-page.

1. Set Ads to "Allow"
2. Set Insecure Content to "Allow"

We believe Chrome may be seeing photos or links as "insecure content".

I'm glad you finally saw it, I know how to clear cache and I know the problem is real, I used Edge and everything was fine, this morning it appears chrome is working well.

I am still having this problem, when clicking on topics I get a flash was blocked on this page and sometimes not the full page if I click the icon next to the X on the upper right hand corner of this page it will open the page. The flash was blocked icon appears next to the zoom icon. I have chrome and I go on other similar websites and this does not happen. Is it possible that this is not a chrome problem but something else?
Drags

1. We don't use Flash on this site.
2. To my knowledge every complaint has involved Chrome browser. Every one.
3. We are contacting the creators of the Forum software.
4. As NO changes in our server or software have taken place we believe this is a Chrome bug. We suggest you use a different browser if you continue to have issues.

FWIW this is posted via Chrome on an Android phone via Verizon wireless. No issues.

REQUEST: If you guys are having a continuing problem, please just send a PM to Forum Boss. Please, please tell me your platform (desktop, laptop, tablet, ipad, Android, or iPhone iphone). For Windows -- tell me the Operating system. Also tell me the browser (presumably Chrome) and the last time you updated. And tell me the type of connection (mobile vs. WiFi vs. corded internet).

I'm using Avast Secure Browser in bank mode with no issues. ASB is a Chrome clone. My Chrome favorite places has become too unwieldy to be useful in quickly accessing my favorite sites and has kept me logged in here for many months.

Yes, I believe what many of you guys are seeing is new browser software which is VERY aggressively tracking activity. Because Forums are such complex pages, with thousands of simultaneous users and hundreds of threads linked on the page, all those Google spiders are chewing up processing power. I use Chrome, and Edge, and Firefox. I believe Chrome is the most aggressive in tracking activity of those.

We were able to get failures on sdean's Windows 10 Laptop running latest version of Chrome using Verizon Wireless. By turning off some features, it appears to have resolved problem... at least on his computer.

What is odd is that I am running exact same Chrome build on Windows 10 desktop machine... no problem.

But I have turned off one feature which appears to have triggered issue on sdean's laptop. FYI, that feature has been running since fall 2018. So the issue IS, we believe, caused by a recent Chrome Browser code change. A change that might be processor specific or even carrier specific.

Are other people still having issues?

If you are having problems... please PM me with your Operating System, platform, Browser type and what page you were on when the problem occurred.

Happened to me again about 5PM EST today now its fine. Next time it acts up I'll try Internet Explorer and Edge

This cured my problem. Thanks.
