PLEASE READ Forum Boss Limited Availability Because of Medical Issues

Saw a lot of these both at presentation and for follow ups post surgical. The base of the fifth metatarsal is a tough area for healing due to the limited blood supply to that area....similar to the navicular bone in the wrist. When the base of the fifth is displaced laterally, most repairs are either by pinning or screwing, depending on the stability of the other structures. Hopefully that approach can be utilized for you.

Tarso Metatarsal arthrodeses for trauma (fusion) can do surprisingly well. Except for the 5th TMT joint there is not much motion to begin with.

Best of luck. More concern is for the soft tissues crushed than the bones themselves.

Wish me luck guys. Going in for another surgery today to remove a protrusion on the left side of the foot that is causing a lot of pain. They are not sure what it started as... maybe part of a pin, or bone fragment, or even some fiberglass from cast. 45-min surgery hopefully. Otherwise, I continue to progress...

Good luck, Boss! We'll try to behave here. Praying too.

Still some pain from a second surgery to remove a big bulge believed to be a Fibromyxoma (benign tumor), which may have been caused by very small bone fragments that hardened into something like a marble.

I am able to walk without much pain now, using a cane. Unfortunately the 4 months of non-weight bearing on left foot has severely strained right ankle which some years ago suffered a torn tendon.

The driver of the SUV that caused the incident is now denying all fault (not surprising as she left the scene without identifying herself). Medicare billings are approaching $190,000 with the two surgeries, PT, and more...

Thank God I have Medicare and a supplement.

Get well soon Paul. You are appreciated more than you know or more than we express it.

Hang in there Boss. Had 3 steel plates put in my right leg last year. Complications. Been there. What helped my mind set was scripture telling me "this too shall pass".
Wishing you a speedy recovery and a Merry Christmas!
