PLEASE READ Forum Boss Limited Availability Because of Medical Issues

Check out this thing, if it will work with your cast. I got one a few years back when I shattered my heel bone. I was "non weight bearing" for four months+, and it was a life saver. Waaaayy better than crutches, and the scooter in my opinion. Even works on stairs.

This too will pass. May God be with ya if you know him, and may he come to ya if you don't know him. jd

Folks,
Unfortunately, I suffered a serious injury earlier this month, with a crushed left foot. All five metatarsal bones were broken along with all the cuneiform bones, one of which is in 3 pieces now.* I am seeing Doctor multiple times this week, with probable surgery on 6/30/2023. This will be a complex 4-hour surgery, with pins, plates, and bone grafts.

In addition, I am having a MOHS skin cancer surgery today 6/26/2023. If necessary, there will be follow-up plastic surgery in a hospital tomorrow 6/27/2023.

Because of these medical issues, I am requesting that members be patient with requests and communications. I will be unavailable for the next two days, and possibly all 6/30/23 and 7/1/23.

REQUEST for Members
In order to eliminate potential problems this week, I urgently request that members be careful about what they post, and how they post.

1. Please use a proper thread title that explains the subject matter. Don't use a title like "Hey Guys", or "WTF is this". Instead use a proper explanatory title such as "Q Re Vortex FFP Scope Mounting".

2. Do NOT try to sell items or post WTB thread in ANY area other than the Classifieds.

3. Be RESPECTFUL to other members. Don't post insults, or attack others.

4. Avoid political threads -- look guys, while I'm out of action, please just leave the political stuff alone. It goes off track really fast.

5. Do NOT post Links to questionable websites!!!!! This is vital. If you have ANY question about a third party vendor site, assume it is a scam. NEVER EVER post a link here. NOTE: You can check questionable sites with https://stopgunscams.com .

6. Do NOT attack vendors. If you have an issue with ANY party that supports the site, send a PM to Forum Boss. Don't start a thread. I will respond to you personally when I'm out of surgery.

7. Overall, please exercise good judgment. LOOK at what you've typed before you post. Don't post materials that will anger, insult, or cause conflict. And to repeat, NEVER EVER post a link to a questionable website.

* This is known as a Lisfranc injury, about as bad as it gets. Surgeon says 8 of 10 in terms of severity.
Good luck . Get healed up soon. You do a very good job with the forum. Thanks Tom.

I had a similar foot injury 40 years ago. Recovery took several months but thankfully a good surgeon was able to get me back to 80%+ and I did not lose the foot. I have not run since (not that it is a great loss).
Best of luck to you.

After 18 mo of surgery and in and out of hospitals I feel for you, just do what they tell you and give it time to heal. I've found older folks don't grow back together fast as we use to, praying for a quick and successful recovery for you.... John

I will be in surgery for 6-7 hours tomorrow. Wish me luck. It will be a very complex and difficult surgery.

Then non-weight bearing for 6-8 months and very acute pain and swelling. I will have restricted movement for as long as a year.

My request, repeated to all members:

No ads ANYwhere except Classifieds

Title your Threads properly -- Get spelling correct and communicate an actual topic, not just "WTH w/ this?" type of title.

Do NOT insult or start fights with other members.

Do NOT attack site sponsors/advertisers. If you have an issue, send Forum Boss a PM and I will contact you after surgery.

In a significant amount of pain.

Major screw-up re catheter, which wasn’t inserted properly, so bladder did not drain after 2 liter IV, and significant bleeding in urethra from repeated rough insertion attempts.

I was evac’d via ambulance to a bigger hospital. New catheter is working, but there is leakage and lots of bleeding.

Go back to ER again ASAP if I can find wheelchair help and driver.

Surgeon was very good, but two support team members should be fired, based on how they screwed me up — Catheter failure. The ER doc got the catheter to work, but he used an incredibly painful probe, and the bleeding is now worse.

The work in the ER was truly like torture.

Completed the face MOHS surgery with closure in hospital today by plastic surgeon. It was a large cancer, size of a dime and extending down.

Go in Thursday for initial foot surgery on 6/29. Even if it is as successful as hoped I will be non-weight bearing for six months (require scooter or crutches). Splint redone today, and there is already atrophy in left calf muscles.
Christ sakes Boss you’re a mess’ take care and hope you feel better soon.
Best wishes
Jim
