Forster decap unit in Redding Dies???

jepp 2,
If you shortened the rod as you explained and set it towards the middle of the Redding plug adjustments, wouldn’t this still give lots of height adjustments?

It would. For the shorter dies, I don't have to shorten the rod any. Here is my Redding 223 die and how I have it set up. I use a half nut to lock the plug nut so I can remove it for cleaning and not lose my setting. For a longer die I would shorten the shaft as necessary.

I found by using a O Ring between two washers on top of the die around the stem screwing the lock nut down not tight allowing stem to center on it own keeps my runout down to .001 I F/L size to .001 don't neck turn my brass and always use the expander . I was thinking just like you in swapping out expanders but give it a try an see if this easy fix works for you .

CACE8EB6-8344-408D-9710-90DDD76538A2.jpeg I changed out my Redding 6.5 Creedmoor FL sizing decapping rod to the Forster assembly, tonight. I cut off the extra threads and thread locked it in the Redding plug, like y’all have suggested. Hoping this will be a improvement.
With my calipers the Redding expander measured .2615 where the Forster measured .2625. I hope this less neck tension will hep too. Do these measurements sound about right to you guys? Thanks for everyone’s help!
