forming 6.5 creedmoor

I'm having a hell of a time getting brass for this cartridge. I tried to makedsome out of 308,and I get alot of dings and messed up looking shoulders. What I am looking for is advice on what is the best brass to form from. I know it is bassed on the 30TC cartridge, so would this be the best to form from or should I go with others first IE: 308,243,260. Thanks for any help-Lawrence

Try resizing 22-250 Rem or .250 Sav brass, it worked for me, you may use a 7 BR (w/o the decapping unit) sizer first. Use it gently along with Redding's Imp Sizing Wax.

I tried some 308 I had laying around.There alot of work trimming neck turning and stuff like that. Are the 22-250 brass easier to work with? Thanks

A lot easier... the 22-250 case body has more taper than the .308 and you don't have to trim the case after forming. You may have to turn necks though, not because they might end up being too thick (they won't) but in the necking up process they might lose a little uniformity if this is absolutely critical for the intended use. As a matter of fact, I never wasted time turning necks on altered 22-250 cases, because I always used good brands like Norma and Fed and I always used a tapered expander like Lee's or Redding's or an elliptical expander like Hdy's along with a good lube. Can't wait to try that new 22-250 Lapua brass as soon as it becomes more available.

-.308 brass
-turn down to 6.5 case length
-run it through your 6.5 creed resizer die w/ out decapping rod and expander ball (lube well)
-replace rod and expanderball
-resize again
-trim neck if needed.
