If someone breaks into your property and finds your rifles. They are unlikely to steal them if the bolts are not present.

Why aren't the bolts in the rifles?
Yes! I put it back in when I am done and the gun goes back into the safe until i need it. At my age, if I separated them, I would surely loose or forget the bolt. When you clean your rifle do you remove your bolt?
I like the Rubbermaid Action Packer, size the double latch and removeable lid. 24 gallon.I use something like these: https://www.uline.com/Product/Detai...o2lIAg0IPVL7bmcz0mE-5clES_DkBurBoC450QAvD_BwE
They're clear so I can see what's inside them when they're on the shelf. I have one for range gear and one for each cartridge that I shoot (308, 44 Mag, etc.). When I finish a batch of handloads for testing or whatever, it goes into the appropriate bin with all of the other ammo for that cartridge. Some cartridges get multiple bins--for example, there's a 308 Handload bin, a 308 Factory Ammo bin, and a 308 FMJ bin.
The night before a range trip, I pull them out, double-check the contents, and stage them in the garage.
It has drastically reduced the problem.
