Forgetting Gear on Trip to Range

I have separate check lists for the items needed. One for shooting F-class. One for bench rest competition and one for normal range session that would require targets and stapler. They all have different requirements. After the truck is loaded I’ll run down the list double checking everything on the list before leaving.

Too many guns going to the range at the same time. New 6.8 SPC bolt gun build. Guys were all over it. What caliber is it? Can't show you. Ammo still at home.:rolleyes:

Got to the range one day and the Range Master was wearing MY head phones. Left them maybe a week or so ago when I went downrange to pull targets. They looked good on him so I didn't say anything.;)

My father in law forgot to check the calender. Drove 8 hours on Friday to a motel. Got to the range Sat morning to discover the match was the previous weekend. I guess there was not much conversation on the ride home.
I did this last year. Drove 2 hours to the match, pulled in to an empty parking lot. Messaged the range owner and was told the match was the next day. This was a Saturday morning.

In my defense, I have been shooting matches at this range for a couple years, the matches were always on Saturday. That said, the match was named "Silent Sunday" in Practiscore so there were clues.

Left my cleaning box at the range once, ph nbr was on it though, so, got it back next day. Batteries for chrono, either krapped out or missing a few times, forgot the chrono a couple of times. Forgot the table to shoot off a couple of times. Forgot bullets for a match once, fortunately someone else was using same thing, 200mi drive from home.

I remember all my shooting stuff but did forget my coat once. Luckily it didn't rain as I was on a range with no cover in an area known for "variable" weather. Better to be lucky than good ;)

I keep 95% of what I need it a plastic bin behind the seat of my 4x4.... I now have a a large bag like you would carry groceries in that I carry inside at the end of the trip.... That way I can change/put ammo etc and carry it back and forth from the truck and house.... I also keep a medium back pack that has targets ,staplers , ear plugs etc.... it takes a ton of crap to go shoot , used to it was a box of .22 and a coke can...

My buddy forgot to take his memory pills.
He loaded 50 rounds of 6br without primers for the 600yd br match.

Showed up at our first match of the year with my 3-lug 6BR all ready to go. Command “place bolts in rifles” Bolt won’t close on ammo. WTF? Seated to long? Wrong ammo? Noooo
You will be interested to know that no matter how hard you try you can’t get a PPC bolt (I own two 3-lugs) to close on a BR case! And believe me I tried. Good thing I was scoring the targets so I had something to do the rest of the morning.
Moral of the story, not only remember your bolt, but make sure it is the right bolt!

this happened. i drove out to the range, ready to have some fun, and when i got there realised i had forgotten some essentials. i had my cap-n-balls but no percussion caps. did i feel stupid boyos. thankfully i did find a couple stuck in the seats so it wasn't total bust. has this ever happened to you?
I have gone to the range with my 220 Swift. And the ammo for a 223. Yup done that. Tommy Mc

Went to do some load testing at my local range. Drove over for everything out and ready. Then realized I left my ammo on the bench. Put everything away and drove home and grabbed the ammo. Drove back got set up again and realized in the rush to grab the ammo I neglected grab the targets I had printed. They were right there underneath the ammo. Luckily there were some used targets I could use. This was all to try and do some windless shooting.
Lesson learned about taking my time to load up.

I used to leave my bolts out until I forgot once now they’re in the guns. The worst forget I ever had was I picked up a couple dirty hung over hippies in the mountains who had broke down. Gave them a ride to town on my way to hunt a new location. I got about a mile from the truck saw a black bear stalked him to bow range and went to grab an arrow and realized I took my quiver off and put it behind my seat to make room for the dirt hippies. Moral of the story is don’t stop to help dirty hippies.

i can remember this one time i had forgotten the key to a lock box. arrived already to have a day of target practice and whoops....luckily the day was salvageable. jiggled the lid just right and it popped open enough for me to pry it open. had to buy a new box but now always have a spare key in the glove box. oh the fun of getting older. lol.
