For those of us with 1' scopes

I would suggest buying 30mm rings and using these.

No need to lap your rings and it won't mark your scope. Also, if you ever "upgrade" to 30mm there is no need for new rings. Just thought I would share this with everyone.

I think lapping would provide a much more accurate attachment for a scope without the possibility of slippage. And properly lapped ring will not mar a scope unless they are over tightened.

Take a look at Burris' Signature rings.

Pretty much the same thing without the moa adjustments. Delrin's coefficient of friction is comparable with the polymer used with the Burris rings, about 3 times that of Teflon). From all reports they seem to work really well.

I don't own the burris rings so I'm not positive, but don't the sleeves in them pivot to self align the scope?
These kind of inserts are very handy, and do allow you to change from 30mm to 1" and vise versa. However, they wont magically align a scope in a set of crooked rings.

Sorry. Yes you are right. I was assuming your rings are reasonably aligned. I personally have never had a problem with badly misaligned rings so it doesn't come to mind when I think of these kind of things. Knock on wood.

So you have never owned factory rifles? Rarely are the scope base holes on them drilled perfectly, some are not even close. Also, the cheaper rings aren't necessarily machined all that well. I'm talking Weaver to Burris to Leupold and many others. I personally use rings made by Kelbly's as well as other high quality rings, but throw them on a set of bases that aren't aligned and they will need help. I personally bed my bases to the receiver and scope into the rings after lapping, when I know things are amiss. If the bedding is done properly, there will be no ring marks and its as rock solid a scope mounting setup one can get. I do like the idea of the inserts for interchangeability though, matter of fact, I have made my own in the past.

No, I haven't owned a factory gun since I was around 10. Dad made custom rifles and actions but he passed away when I was 15 and I just started getting back into rifles about two years ago. All I have is one and it is on a bat sv,graduation present). Currently building another and it is on a tac30,Stiller group buy $625). As long as I keep having good fortune like this I will continue to stay away from factory guns/actions. Came across those Delrin inserts and just wanted to share.
Thanks, Nick

Maybe some folks are overlooking the point of these inserts. From what I gather, the inserts allow the use of a 1" scope in 30mm rings. No more, no less.

Personally, I like the idea!
