My mentor uses core drills, he does a bunch of barrels a year though. I too couldn’t justify them when a drill bit is $15I'd say most people aren't using a flush system. But if you really want to talk about saving time... look at the JGS core drills (roughing reamer)

I see, that makes senseI dial throat and in front of throat. I still do a quick pre-bore, turn a false shoulder to get the reamer started, and plow.
