Yeah, they're the same price as a reamer. I've only got one for 308. I do a LOT of 308. Best money I've ever spent.

You never see them on the second hand market either, I buy a lot of lightly used reamers, But I have never seen any core drills for sale other than new.

There probably aren't a lot of people with them. Most people dont have roughers, I don't think. When I ordered it they were kind of surprised I wanted one. It was kind of a gamble but I can't recommend them enough.

I have a couple of roughers, But to be honest I have never used them, I acquired them in a large reamer buy I did.

I'd say most people aren't using a flush system. But if you really want to talk about saving time... look at the JGS core drills (roughing reamer)

You can bore a chamber in about 1 minute.

My mentor uses core drills, he does a bunch of barrels a year though. I too couldn’t justify them when a drill bit is $15

My question with the core drills. How do you know they cut a hole on center and don’t don’t walk? The purpose of drilling and pre-boring is to rough out the chamber but the boring bar establishes a trued hole that’s on center. The problem with using the finish reamer the whole way is if you dial in the throat and muzzle or throat and just past the throat, then the base of the chamber could have runout and thus be cut oversize as the pilot follows the bore. I don’t see how a roughing reamer or core drill wouldn’t do the same thing and could possibly cut a hole with runout.
