For older shooters ONLY!

The way the country is headed, it just may not be bad to be old. I see the so called peaceful riots in the streets and the killing and the destruction of federal and private property and no one gets arrested. Just the inverse if you do it in their sand box, they pull in federal troops and put up a wall and arrest everybody they can, it is hard to take. I guess I won't have to put up with this BS. much longer.....
I have enough components and barrels for two year or so by then I don't think it will be fun then, if we even can have guns any more. ....... jim

67YO and I thought the world ended with Jimmy Carter but it was surely over with BO.
Nope; but this new old dude may actually answer Merle's question above.
Now, I don't worry about waiting for new builds near as much as getting reloaded for the builds I already have.

50 didn't slow me up at all. At 54 seems like things started taking longer to do than it should. At 61 & 6 months I had a serious work accident that crushed my leg. Got lucky and had a Dr that saved my leg with two surgeries instead of amputation. I can't run but I get along pretty well. I am always busy with a project. I cut wood for an outdoor wood burner that heats my house and shop + the hot water. Takes a mountain of wood per year. Been doing battle with a huge 100+ year old oak tree that the wind took down last year. Have it all cut and split now except need to cut all the limb wood. Hurting in places I forgot I had. Then have to get it hauled to the yard and stacked. At 72 I thank the good Lord above I'm still able to do it. Have farmland that I rent out. Do deer food plots and stands and run cameras. Lifelong hunter and hunted Wyoming, Illinois and my home state of Wi. last year. Hoping to throw in South Dakota prairie dogs again this year. Just got a new Mack Evo Stainless action to put a rifle together. Was church president the past 4 years. Not going to shoot a bunch this year, damned if I'll pay the prices they want to replace my components and I can shoot to 600 yards here at my place. Like someone else said with how things are going in the USA, glad that I'm as old as I am. Grew up in the best time this country ever knew. It's upside down and backwards now. I'm going to go as long as I can and as hard as I can. Thank the good Lord above for good health and a wonderful wife. Happy Easter to everyone!

I qualify as an older shooter - 74! :(

The only way to look at life at my age is to just take one day at a time. Don't look too far ahead. Enjoy the day at hand and get the most of it.

I've had many of great hunts and some memorable pistol competitions. Hoping to get a few more ground hog seasons in before I cash in but if I don't I will say - it's been a life well lived and a hell of ride.

Many of my hunting and shooting buddies are gone now. Sure do miss them and the great times we had together but I have those cherished memories.

PS: Had the privilege and joy of being raised in a rural area when hunting and shooting were considered normal activities for young boys and men to pursue.

It was the days of hunting camps, sitting around the wood burning stove listening to my dad and uncles talk about their great hunting adventures.

It was a time of small game hunting and enjoying a rabbit feast afterwards - mom was a great game cook. We didn't have a lot of material possessions but we had enough.

It was a simpler time with simple values. But that train left long time ago so you have to adapt and overcome as they taught us in the Army.

Have you ever noticed that from the time of your gunsmith telling you that he is starting your build till he calls and says he put your new rifle in the mail, until it arrives that life's clock just stands still? Got the call yesterday! Thinking I may have discovered something here, years 0 to 18 were forever, between then and 50 like the half life of uranium, just turned around one day and I was 60. Couple of days later at 62 had a heart attack and realized I could see the end from where I was standing. Now a couple of months later at approaching 76 I realized that waiting on a new build is the only thing that slows down the clock! I'm going to call Mike Davis today and start another build, just trying to figure out what else I need...... maybe a pump action BR, I don't have one of those... John
Remember, the one with the most toys wins. That what my gunsmith told me. Conversation began with “you’re winning” when I walked into his shop to pick up my latest acquisition. I asked him, whatcha talking about? His reply, the one with the most toys when he dies, wins. I was so relieved, kinda.

I am about to upgrade to version 6.1. I feel as good as I did 20 years ago, better actually in many ways. I don't like the way the country is headed, but I have always known it was headed that way and I know how things turn out in the end.

I definitely believe in adapting and overcoming, and I am not a look back kind of guy. What is past is past and all that matters is what is ahead.

I'm 70 & enjoy life more than ever. I've come to appreciate things I didn't before. Seems the older I become the simpler I like things. And Butch I've walked on the side of that hill most my life & Jeff I'm with you on salvation.

I don't know how long I have to enjoy my favorite high country solo hunts for elk & muledeer. Turning 73 in a couple of weeks, but I've put in for tags for both. Now that's a long wait, to draw or be empty handed when seasons open.

I realize I'm a bit slower these days, but manage to get'er done though my time is running out. When I can no longer hunt the mountains, I'll have memories to last.

In the last few years I started carrying an InReach tracker on my pack, figure someone will find my carcass, LOL.

73 here. I just live my life and do what I want. Time seems to keep speeding up.
In a sense it is, every day you are alive, each one of those days becomes a smaller percentage of your existence. My dad lived to be 93, shortly before he died we were talking about how time seems to be going faster all the time. I asked if he sensed the same thing, and he said at his age everyday is almost a blur.
