Today my new-to-me Weaver T10 arrived (thanks Ringer) and it went right on my Contender K-Hornet. Saturday my daughter completed her hunter safety course and it was time to try a woodchuck. I bore sighted and got the K-Hornet on in two shots. I also confirmed zero on a HR sportster 17HMR with a 10X Bushnell. I popped a couple bipods on and off we went. We saw several woodchucks, but none cooperated by sticking around. After a long walk back a farm lane we spotted one at 135 yards. My daughter took the K and crawled under a blow-down to a little rise so she could get a clean shot. I was proud of her as she got herself well situated. When the G-hog lifted his head she fired. A clean shoulder shot, her first G-hog.
Later we spotted just a head sticking out a drop hole right behind the farmers house by his garden. With his permission I layed down with the 17 and took the shot, just seeing an eye and top of head peering out. IMMORTAL and Mr M, I got him in the head...but we lost the photo in the download. Photo is my daughter with her groundhog.

Congrats snert!! Before long she will be giving you a run for the money in the fields.

I agree with the others.Love to see young ones enjoying hunting and the outdoors.

Here is a pic of my 10yr. old daughter. She loves going hunting and is always asking me when I'm going to get her a rifle.

Oh and btw,I went out Tuesday and smoked 5 more.Unfortunately I forgot my camera but had some head shots that even you would have been proud of. One was even a running head shot. ;D

Brings my total to 33 for the year.

Good stuff Snort! Your gonna need more ammo to keep the boys away from that cute youngin'! I'm at 13 but running into farmers working the fields. How could they be so inconsiderate to work when I want to play? ::)

Play your cards well and maybe someone ELSE will buy that little girl a rifle! A good friend bought a bench rifle for my daughter. She is getting used to a 40X 222 before she moves to the 22PPC.

She wants to go again today but we have family movie night planned, and have to get the camper from storage. Ugh...responsibilities!

Keep posting those hunts!

Oh, I spent 20 years intimidating even the hardest criminal...but I expect to have my biggest challenges from teenage boys slithering about! Nothing a can of pepper spray can't handle!!! :o ;D

I think we should start an online opinion poll to see if you should buy that little cutie a gun, say...NOW..or if you should wait and risk breaking the child's heart! ;)

I am in for "NOW" as the best option!

Thanks guys.I have a custom 20 TAC now and I'm looking at buying a custom 20BR soon. I got a feeling that one of those rifles will make it's way into her hands. ;)

I can't wait to see her first ghog kill.

Hunting license, first ground hog AND a 40x in .222..................

Ever consider adopting??????

Congratulations to both of you, I can`t wait for our boy to be old enough to introduce him to a rifle......

Yes, I have considered it! But I have 4 kids now and am getting a bit too old! However, the 222 is just her starter gun, then I get it back. She has a teriffic BR rifle in 22PPC. Action by Ross Sherman, smithed and owned by Fred Sinclair back in the day. Elderly friend bought it for her to bless her (and me) and to remember his good friend Ross. Oh, it shoots... ;D
