For Deep Thinkers

I think the advantage of the BR. imp. is little or no torque, recoil and the great bullets available. At my age i can't afford a detached retina, also recoil wears on you and the gun...... jim

I agree the Dasher is great. My .284 example was to widen the conversation. In some wind conditions it's nice to have both.

What are other efficient cartridges you see?

I'm trying to understand what makes a great cartridge great. At one time the .222 Remington was a great benchrest cartridge. More recently the 6PPC and the 30 BR. At 600 to 1,000 yards it's hard to beat the 6BR or one of the improved 6 BR variations.

If all factors were equal, brass, bullets, custom gun, etc., what sets a cartridge appart to be a great one? If great is defined by a formula, can that formula be carried over to other cartridges?

Thanks!

Terry

Yes , everything is relative. Any cartridge can be a good one, if you spend the time developing it. Nothing comes easy, and every rifle is different.
