Focus issue at high magnification

Maybe I need glasses....Nightforce 12-42 BR with np2 reticle. I keep "loosing" my dot. Target is slightly blurry due to some mirage and it is like my eyes try to clear up the picture and the dot goes hazy. Can look away for a second or too and it comes back briefly. Can turn power down and problem goes away mostly. I have focused the eye box on blank sky etc.

Is it my eyes or common issue at high magnification?

I have a NightForce 12-42 BR with a CH3 crosshair>>which is the finest dot 0.088 on the market. I shot this past Sunday at 1000yards in VERY heavy mirage. My dot was precise and very clear. This is what you might try. Get a CLEAR, CLOUDLESS day and get a steady place for your rifle and set the power on 42, place the Parallax on INFINITY and then adjust the fast focus (on the ocular lens) to get a CRISP reticle. Once that is done, you should be good at ANY distance, once you eliminate parallax at that distance. I hope this helps..

I will try that tomorrow... I did the sky thing but not with the objective lens on infiniti.
Probably wouldnt hurt to get the book out and read it...

Thanks
Ken

Ken, I am not having this problem. I do need reading glasses and have to use them with some scopes. There is only a few scopes out there that I can focus and do not need any glasses at all.

NightForce is one of them. I know as stated on the other thread, it seems once I get mine set, I am good to go. I will try ShotDots recommendation.

On heavy mirage days, I do set the power lower.

Be patient, you will get it. I kind of went through the same thing you are going through. But once I figured it out, I bought 4 more!

If your scope is like mine, the numbers and the infinity mark have absolutely no correlation with the actual yardage or infinity. Later! Frank
