Foaming bore cleaner?

Have not seen a lot on this stuff really. I went to Gunslick foaming bore cleaner a while back and it has cut my cleaning time greatly. I still use a brush with it, but compared to hoppies9 it takes half the amount of patches and time. And I have noticed on my wife's.38 snubby were I can see in the barrel ,it removes copper from the barrel in one shot.

I saw on the can not to use it on gas guns like the ar15,, I guess becouse the foam could get in the gas tube? Is anyone else useing this stuff? And is anyone useing it in the ar15 platform? Seems like you could just go out to the shop and give the gas tube a shot of air to make sure its clear. It makes cleaning barrels in automatic pistols like the Glock a dream..
 
It is not my primary cleaner. I have used and still do. After a match if I don't feel like cleaning the rifle, I just spray it and leave it until the next day. It works reasonably well, but still leaves some copper. A couple patches of Eliminator finishes the job. I check with a bore scope.
 
And removes powder fouling very well... I guess I'm like a lot of guys, stuck in the past useing hoppies 9 for decades... Glad i experimented with this stuff. Like I said it makes cleaning Glock etc barrels a snap. I just foam the barrel first then start cleaning the rest and by the time iam done the barrel is G2G..

Loading the .38 down ( 13oz Ruger lcr ) so my wife can enjoy shooting it makes it get powder fouling pretty bad. They light load of win231 is very position sensitive.

Just to ask again, is any one useing this in AR15 platforms or do you know why your not supposed to? It seems like it would be great for the AR15..
 
I abandoned Hoppe's too, even though I miss the smell! It was useless on copper. However, I see there is a new copper removing formula Hoppe's out now. A guy was using some at the range, and I smelled it. Sure enough, it now has ammonia in it. But, I still use Barnes CR-10. Ammonia does the trick on copper.
 
I've been using the Hoppe's Elite foaming bore cleaner in AR without any problems. I make sure the gas port is at 12 o'clock and let sit overnight muzzle down. It really does a good job around the barrel extension and BCG. It lifts fouling like a fuzz in the barrel. I squirt a shot of brake cleaner down the gas tube and oil. I showed a 70+ gentleman how easier it was and now it is all he uses on his handguns and AR's.

I use it all the time in my AR15 rifles, and just use carb cleaner to blast out the gas tube. With semi-autos with a piston the gas tube and piston will need to have the foam removed and cleaned. If not the foam will get gummy and bind the gas system.

What is amazing is how blue the piston and gas tube become, so I'm guessing copper is atomized and blown into the gas system.
 
I ditched the gas tube... I too use Wipe Out on all my arms.. I usually clean real good with Bore Tech C4 first and then go after the copper. I find the Wipe Out usually need more than one application. I also use Montana Extreme Copper Killer...

Sorry about this stupid question..lol when you say you hit the gas tube with brake clean and oil... Do you mean oil the rifle right? Not oil down the gas tube correct...
 
I'm a recent convert to Bore Tech CU+2 for copper removal.

First I clean with Shooter's Choice using brass brush as I've done for years. This does a good job of removing carbon fouling and some copper fouling. I dry patch then use the Bore Tech copper remover to remove any remaining copper. I was impressed with the job it does on copper.
 
Of course, I meant oil the barrel. Sorry for the misunderstanding. An added bonus is no wonderful #9 smell and available at most sporting goods stores, as is the Elite copper remover.
 
I'm sorry to be the one to disagree, but if you have a bore scope and can see if it cleans or not. I can tell you it's a waist of time. witches brew and butches bore shine is all I will use... just my opinion
