foaming bore cleaner

what is the forums thaughts on this stuff? i use a brand that turns purple when it starts to work. when i look at the barrel from the bore scope it is copper free after cleaning. i use that first and then run a brush through it. then i start using wet/dry patches until they come out clean. as everybody else i use a bore giude on every gun. i was just wondering if i was the only one who uses it. i also use a boresnake at the range to give it a range cleaning between rounds.

I have used Wipe-Out since it came out in 2000...

Won't use any others.

No brushes either, just a patch of JB every 60-100rds to stay ahead of any carbon deposits.

YMMV,
JB

i didn't want to mention the name cause i didn't want to look like a boob, but i like it alot myself. i use a brush one time to be safe and then just hoppes and patches. at the range i send a bore snake down it several times to kinda clean some fowling out, but to leave some as well. my rifles normally shoot better after a few fowling rounds. if i leave some in it it will go right back to driving nails. i'll use 1 sighter and back at it again.

How about gunslick foaming boar cleaner,
anyone had any experience with that?

I don't use a brush. I use a cotton swab [looks like a feminine hygine product] with patches over that.

What do ya think

thanks Link

I have never had good success with them and consider them a gimmick. If you do a search on foams over on snipercentral.com, you can read my review of one popular foam product. IMO, there is no substitute for Sweet's 7.62.

If you have never had success using them, you are probably either using the wrong brand or using it/them incorrectly.

Got a link to the review cause I can't seem to find anything over there?

I'm kind of in and out of the foaming bore cleaner camp. Straight-up WipeOut works... but is slower than a seven year itch and not the most effective on carbon fouling. Plus I seem to get spurts of foam everywhere - even with tubes, extensions, etc. I get backpressure 'burps' of the stuff out the end of my bore guide, which is messy and annoying. It certainly takes longer than cleaning with harsher chemicals, like Sweets)... but it doesn't stink up the whole room neither :D

CarbOut takes care of the carbon issues - couple wet patches, some soaking, no problems. Chase it with some Accelerator to flush out the CarbOut and lead the way for some WipeOut PatchOut... and life is good. Faster/more effective for me than the original pure foam cleaner,as it should be, since the thick stuff gets knocked down before the PatchOut goes in), and no annoying foam mess.

A little JB or Witches Brew to stay on top of the throat, and life is good :thumb:
