FN SPR Firing Pin Bushing

Does anyone know of a good gunsmith (with reasonable turn-around time) that can bush an FN SPR firing pin for small rifle primer use?

Thanks!

You have an FN-H SPR that you want to modify in way that only you will appreciate its value?

Why not buy another bolt body? Really just want to shoot palma brass, kind of limiting. Tried all the primers and your testing shows none is satisfactory?

The SPRs are getting few and far between. Isn't Dave Kiff doing Winchester bolts now? Can FN sell you a bolt body? I know Sako was selling them for TRG series rifles. Maybe you're gonna set the world on fire with small primer brass, but then again, if you don't... Could cost you serious money if ever wanted to sell your rifle...

A bushed firing pin costing serious money if he wanted to sell it?? I doubt that. There are other reasons to bush a firing pin hole other than small primers. Mine have excessively large holes that cause cratering early.

GreTan will do it.

I got a hold of Alex. We're all set up. Thanks for the recommendation.

And to clarify, I've had this action for close to 7 years with over 12,000 rounds on it. It was purchased as an action only when FN released that batch so many years ago. The value will be unaffected and it will likely never be sold.

Good result .... and I sympathise with the desire to stick with the action. I'm very fond of mine which came as part of one of the first 10 .308 Win SPRs to be imported into the UK shortly after its launch to the civilian market. I shot it (a black McMillan A4 stocked example) in its original chambering in the first year of the FTR discipline, but despite what was being said on Accurate Shooter and elsewhere, it wasn't competitive thanks to the 24-inch barrel, or not beyond 600 yards anyway. So year 2 of FTR saw a custom rifle built and I had a spare SPR with no great desire to shoot 308 Win in a second rifle. As the fairly newly arrived 6.5X47L was the 'in' cartridge, rebarrelling to it seemed a logical move - sadly not as primers cratered badly with Vihtavouri's mild starting loads and blanked some at another grain or 1.5gn heavier charges. So .... it was rechambered to 260 Rem which it still is nearly 10 years on, and it works very well indeed, the only other change to factory spec being a Jewell trigger put on.

People keep telling me to sell it as it doesn't fit any of my shooting niches, but I'm very fond of the rifle - a great stock and I've always liked the action. With a nearly shot out barrel now, I've decided to keep it and rebarrel to 260AI. If we had a readily available bolt bushing service available here, I'd likely use that and go for 6.5 Creedmoor instead using small primer Lapua brass, but a long-throated 260AI will be fun I think.

Thanks for the recommendation of Alex Wheeler. Amazing turnaround and the rifle shoots fantastic with no more pierced primers. He's more or less in my backyard too.

I had gre tan do mine back in 2010 and have been happy with his work. He has done a few Remington and took as since.

hogan , if you or anyone you know would like me to machine a group of Winchester, FN, TRG, or any other precision ground push Feed or Control Round feed bolts in a Standard Size or oversize with Ground Flutes please contact me directly at Dave@kifftool.com or 541-826-5808 . Please pass the word because I purchased more CNC's to do this and also make Bottom Metal, DBM's and Chassis but the DBM's and Bolts come First . Thanks for your Time
