Off topic-FN pistol in 5.7X28

I hope you get this figured out. The firing pin being broken was my best guess. I am interested to know what is causing the issue once you figure it out. Best of luck

Other than the fired piece of brass that was enclosed, nothing has gone bang yet. I did check for firing pin protrusion.

Can't figure out how that piece of brass was ever fired in your pistol when it won't fire for you? I'm getting mine out today and fire it and check headspace.

The piece of brass was supplied by FN. Not really sure why this happened or why they would enclose it.

I don’t have FN57 but I do have PS90 and 5.7 was the first round I learned how to hand load ten years back and yes it grows a lot during firing and I never had problems with factory ammo. You used FN ammo or federal ???

If you have the dies pull a round apart resize it and prime it or size w no decap pin see if the primer ignites..... alternatively you can reprime the case you got w pistol I doubt it’s the pistol FN stuff is first grade between my Scar and Ps90 I never had an issue and my cousin has 2 Fns guns

That Is weird,I no I didn't get a piece of brass with mine?

I think MA had a law to collect a fired case from every gun sold there so their Gestapo could pick up a case from the ground after a homie shootout and go ring their doorbell and arrest them......except the homies stole their gats..

The brass included is because in some states you have to send it in when you register it. My Sig & S&w had one.
I'd clean the gun really good. That anti rust its packaged with slowes things down too much for use.

Thanks for the suggestions. Try this on for size. If the slide is back and locked, a new magazine installed, release the slide and it fires. I'm guessing that pulling the slide back and releasing it manually doesn't allow the slide to close all the way.

FN does have a service bulletin about battery/striker issue. Doesn't seem exactly like your issue, but bulletin is serial # related so you could check yours. Good luck.

I'll check that. I said that I released the slide and it fired. I meant after I use the slide release it and then it works fine. It may be better after a 100 round are so are run through it.

Fired case is for commie states that require it for case fingerprinting. I think you hit the nail on the head with it's a space issue with ammo.. Following

My m&p shield doesn't go into full battery unless slide is dropped with button.
Whack the back of the slide with palm if you see it isn't fully in battery.

Shot mine today and measured three empty's against the loaded round , close as I could measure was right at .033 case stretch. Mine will fire no matter how I close the slide. Good luck, let us no what you come up with.

Probably just a slight bit of difference in the slide velocity between the two.
rigid grip with mag in slide locked, works
less rigid with mag inserted and manually operating the slide, pushing the pistol in the same direction as the slide travels, doesn't work

I think that you are correct Dave.
