FN Mauser Questions/Worth

Hello, I appreciate all the help I can get. I have a FN Mauser that is barreled in 220 swift. I had the rifle refinished and a new stock pit on the rifle. I am curious of it’s worth? I don’t want to over price it or under price it. Thank you in advance.C9E79C18-0F41-425F-B736-4D514677D140.jpeg

Take it to a local gunshop that you know and ask what they'd sell it for and their buy it price...Split the difference. Nice looking rig though.

I think Butch is correct.
Don't mean to use the old cliche- but it fits...
It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Do you have a log, with documented round count and load used?
Is the receiver pillar bedded?
These things add value to serious buyers.
An overbore barrel-burner such as this (1500-2000?) would be presumed to be valued with rebarreling needed unless you can prove otherwise- borescope pics of the the throat would help when you list it.

I know the Swift has a following, but it's sure a lot more limited than if it were chambered in '.06 for example.
With low, documented round count and if you're lucky enough to find the "right" buyer- could be $500.
Anyone else, figuring on rebarreling will value for stock/action- probably $300-$400.

I have to ask what this action has been coated with?

Here is the original blued version:

It looks like rattle can...

If it is something like spray on then why is it so thick? Is something being hidden by the coating? Rust? Pitting?

Questions to ask before selling.

Clearly been coated.
But it's wrong to ascribe an unsavory motive just because it's been done.
It's a rebarrel.
What else you gonna do with a chromoly barrel if you don't want to hot blue??

I think he was mainly pointing out its been coated and it could be krylon so thats something to check

FN's are, generally speaking , very good Mauser actions and have been the basis for thousands of very nice custom rifles. They have also been the basis for thousands of mediocre custom rifles. That a person can pick up a nice FN action for 350 to 400 bucks, is one of the great bargains of our time. The thing is, it takes some pretty fine work to produce a rifle which is worth a lot more.
Times have changed and modern hunters can't see the splendid utility and durability inherent in the Mauser action. WH
