I have purchased a fn mauser in 222 that appears to have been an old bench gun. The only markings on the action FN in a circle and made in Belgium. This is the first one I have seen so I am seeking any information that I can find.
If you can, include some pics of the bolt face (and extractor). I'm a .222 fan for it's accuracy. I currently own a Rem 722 in one, with a 1-14" twist. It's basically a 400 yd. gun, max, in pristine conditions with the right bullet. 200 yd. rifle with some wind. @100 it shines with the right bullets where it will easily shoot 1/2" in most conditions. You should post some pictures. There are a few fans of old 222s here including myself. I bet someone here will know something about what you have.
That is how my JC Higgings from Sears has on it. Bought it in 1963. I dont think that helps you. But it might. Tommy McI have purchased a fn mauser in 222 that appears to have been an old bench gun.
