FMJ Linked 308 Ammo

I have two belts of this, it's all WRA headstamp with the Nato mark from the late '60s. There are over 80 rounds per link. Does anyone have an idea what this is worth? Thanks in advance for checking this out.

Technically it's referred to as 7.62x51 ammunition if it has the NATO making in the headstamp.

The bullet weight and cartridge use will affect the cost per cartridge.

If the buyer want to de-link the ammo, the little machines used can be costly these days.

Remember that some linked ammunition uses a tracer round every 5 rounds.

Can tracers be identified by looking at the unfired cartridges?

TRACER (1965 – 1972)

Original reports from PMP was that production started in 1967, but the earliest headstamp is from 1968 as no cases from 1967 have been seen. Brass case with brass primer and red PA. One batch from 1969 was made with a red case mouth seal and may have been a contract for a foreign government. From 1968 - 1969 the bullets are GMCS but changed later in 1969 to GM only. All specimens are identified by a red lacquered tip, cannelure on the bullet and a red PA. The letter G is also introduced on the headstamp.

Apparently, none of these are tracers. I've got them on a local trading website that covers four counties. Guess I'll see what kind of offers come in. Thanks again, you've been a big help.

Pretty sure you are good! Been an EOD Tech in NC for a hot min and an Infantry guy before that(Machine Gunner). That is straight up, 147gr 7.62x51 ball ammo. No tracers in the line! Delinking can be done by hand, done it hundreds of times and still do it from 5.56x45mm all the way the 50cal BMG! Wont ask where you got it, but I would also not say where you did! There are a lot of guys out there with belt fed guns that would love to just get their hands on the links! Cant run belt fed without them! Nothing illegal about it! However, finding the person that need linked ammo could be the challenge!

If you can't find a buyer "for the ammo that it is", might try selling it as "men's costume jewelry"! Anyway, I've certainly seen a lot of sweaty guys with it draped around their neck in my life time!
